if that is how much sunscreen we actually need to apply on a daily basis, why on earth do they all come in 30-50ml bottles (max 100ml for face) ?! it's just not economically practical for most people to purchase a bottle of £30 sunscreen every 10 days!
@garvenshar6846
@garvenshar6846 6 лет назад
Probably because most people still don't know the harm of sunlight, so rarely use it. What kind of sunscreen do you buy? Low priced sunscreen is usually just about 10 dollars or even lower here.

No offense to the good doctor, but given that she lives in London and is rocking a pair of Louboutin heels in the title sequence, something tells me she doesn't worry about a £30 bottle of sunscreen lasting her 10 days.

the beginning of the video, she mentions that the biggest problem seems to be formulation. How your sunscreen reacts to your foundation. That's my biggest problem too. I wish you would have went more into detail about the different sunscreen formulations and how to find the right one that will work with your makeup

TheFluffy1966 Hi! After years of experimenting, I found Paula's Choice Resist Super Light Wrinkle Defence... Seriously the best. SPF 30+, feels just like a normal moisturiser, totally matte and oil free, fragrance free, full of vitamins and antioxidants, a perfect base and primer for foundation. Totally smooths over skin and blurs our imperfections, no white cast. I wear it every single day and no longer need a makeup primer. I put my makeup on at 6am and it lasts 10-12 hours every day in the Australian climate. Also very reasonably priced. If you can get your hands on Paula's Choice then I highly recommend. Paula's Choice sell sample sizes, if you wanted to try before committing to a full size. X

5 ml? WOW! That is a lot! I mean, my facial sunscreen is 65g. So I can't imagine how much sunscreen I would have to buy. And I'm pretty sure I would feel the urge to wash my face after that amount of product. :( I don't think I'll ever be able to feel comfortable wearing that much product.

@Mel-pb5xw
@Mel-pb5xw 7 лет назад
It's THE most important area to apply SPF!! It is common for many to have sensitivities to some chemical SPF ingredients in the eye area, in which case using a mineral based SPF would be the key, but you definitely should be applying it all over/ around the eye area (which I believe is specifically referenced/ mentioned in the video; if not its in her morning routine video, S I just watched both in succession). Hope this helps!

I live in a tropical country. At 29 I have finally understood the importance of sunscreen. Now I've made it the final step of my morning skincare, irrespective of going out. Because unless one is living in a dark dungeon, sunlight does light up your house and hits the face. I have truly noticed a difference in my skin. As you mentioned Doctor, finding a good sunscreen that works in the heat and humidity and under make up is difficult. And most of the good ones expensive. So I'm just sad that I'll end up finishing a pricey 30 mls of sunscreen tube every 6 days if I use 5 mls a day. And let's not even count the sunscreen applied on exposed parts of the body!! 😩😩😩😩

Hello, I have a question (or several questions, sorry). If i'm out for work at 9am and then go out again to eat at 2 or 3pm (being in the sun), should I wash my face again and apply sunscreen all over again? Because where I live, the sun is very very harsh and damaging, temperature rise up to 50ºC degrees (120ºF ) in summer. I wear 50SPF daily and I have combo skin (I use an avene sunscreen). I only apply it in the morning. Should I buy a light spray one(like an anthelios 50) so I can spray it on top in the middle of the day? What about my arms? does it work if I only apply sunscreen once? I hug a lot of dogs through the day, and i feel weird about re-applying cream over dirty arms. I should wash and apply, right? Also, i sweat a lot in summer. Help.

So if you apply a non- spf foundation over a mineral suncreen (with 5-10min in between) you are protected? I always feel that when you apply foundation over a mineral sunscreen the effect of the sunscreen is gone because mineral sunscreens works as a sunlight reflection. I hope my question makes sense and that you can answer me. And when you're out in the sun all day, in the city for example, you have to re-apply every 2 hours right?

My (facehtheory) moisturiser has SPF in it, then i apply the purito cantella sunscreen and then a foundation and powder with SPF too. That way i apply the products i normally would but have the correct amount of SPF by the end

When you say we should not mix sunscreen with other products, does that apply to not mixing different sunscreens? Would it be bad to apply mineral sunscreen all over the face(mainly to avoid eye irritation) and then apply a little of a lighter tinted chemical sunscreen to avoid the white cast? At least where I live, tinted chemical sunscreen tend to be more affordable than a tinted mineral one, and many of us don’t even use foundation on a daily bases, we just need an affordable way to avoid eye sting without a white cast. 😌Thanks for all of your videos

Maybe I've missed something. Applying one generous layer of SPF in the morning before make up won't protect your skin all day. So if I'm going out during the day and want to wear make up, how can I be protected by SPF?

ziphy zephyr Hi! Totally agree with this. X

I don’t understand the purpose of all those negative comments. Nobody is forcing anyone to use so much sunscreen, the video is purely informative. My approach to this is like: if you want to have healthy, young looking, wrinkle free skin you will make that work. Given the amount of money we spend on products we actually don’t need I am sure we all can afford to buy sunscreen because this is the product we actually do need, even purely to prevent skin cancer. I highly recommend using inexpensive mineral sunscreen, I buy mine in the largest possible tube that lasts for weeks. All so called “facial sunscreens “ are a rip-off. The brands want us to pay double for half the size tube. Mineral sunscreens are non irritating and you don’t have to wait 30 min for them to start working like with the chemical sunscreens which we often forget about and we get out in the sun too soon and cause damage to our skin.

Hi, may I ask how the SPF needs to be applied properly... for example are we meant to apply underneath the eyes near the waterline, including the eyelids? I use the La roche posay fluid spf50. I started applying around the eyes but wasn’t sure whether this is needed. Would like a clarification. Thanks, SerenA

How often I should reaply sunscreen during the day? If I'm wearing makeup I should take it off in order to reaply sunscreen or can I use a powder or spray for touch up?
@DrSamBunting
@DrSamBunting 8 лет назад
+Oriebir08 I'm realistic - if make-up is applied after sunscreen, I don't expect any working woman to take it off and reapply. Practice sun avoidance during the day and seek shade/cover up if outdoors. And don't forget to combine SPF with an antioxidant for extra protection against UV and infra-red.

+missf79 I struggle with breakouts and mild rosacea & I really love Paula's Choice sunscreens (I use the Hydralight one, the Resist Super-Light Daily Defence looks really good too). In the past I would get horrible rashes from chemical sunscreens - so now I just stick to mineral based sunscreens (zinc oxide and titanium dioxide). Xx

+missf79 Have you tried going back to basics. Gentle face wash (I use ren gentle cleansing gel) then moisturise. I use vichy normaderm on chin area. I no beauty people don't recommend but I find sudocrem is a life saver ☺. Wouldn't be without it! I apply little on my cheeks every night! Also an antihistamine is good for when things have got bad, calms inflammation. I find dairy, gluten and sugar don't help me. x

Hi Dr Bunting, how about reapplying sunscreen over makeup? I understand that sunscreen must be reapplied throughout the day especially if one will be outside for long hours. I'm quite meticulous in sunscreen application and use one every single day in the quantity you have mentioned. It's the one skincare item I am always buying. As I don't rely on the spf in my makeup even when touching up my makeup, I usually just avoid going out in the sun for too long especially during the hours when the sun's rays are the strongest. But sometimes I need to be out the whole day. For such days, how can I ensure I'm getting adequate sun protection while still having my makeup on?
@DrSamBunting
@DrSamBunting 8 лет назад
+Sabeena Yasmin Abdullah Try a tinted sunscreen alone on those days - then you can top every 2 hrs, as needed. And be sure to layer it over an antioxidant serum containing vitamin C at a strength of at least 10%.

Where did you come up with 5ml ? It's 1.25ml for face and the same for neck, maybe a little more for neck. You can measure your face approximately, majority of people need even less than 1,25ml.

I've had acne for 12 years now and I went to the dr today, hoping to get put on Accutane because the problem is internal and I've had it for so long. bt she gave me the duac cream. would it be possible to go onto a tablet instead - I feel like that would address the issue better? but they don't take it seriously.

+112angelsss every case of acne is different and treatment needs to be individualised. You also need to find a doctor who you have a good relationship with, as getting acne better is a process that takes time and good communication. Persist and good luck!
