@@FXhome I really like every of your tutorials. I was wondering if you can do a tutorial abaut making an explosion with the particle simulator, i tried it different times (in hitfilm express with watermarks) but it wasnt really good.

@@merde1821 aerial, ground or space? There are some differences between all three approaches. I love to blow things up with particles, so, narrow it down for me and I'll give some hints. The first is you can't do it with a single emitter. Flames, smoke, dust and debris all layer up to make one explosion. You'll want to learn how to set up video textures since using a stock footage explosion as a texture can really help. If you take a look at this VFX Breakdown you'll see my explosion layering - I used different emitters for ship debris, rock debris, impact dust, flaming/smoking debris trails and the main fireball. Hey, we had a big discussion on this topic on the Hitfilm forum last year across two threads Check them out! fxhome.com/forum/discussion/comment/128428#Comment_128428 fxhome.com/forum/discussion/comment/130473#Comment_130473 The short version is, in the base version of Express you can't really do it that well. You'll need either the shatter add-on or the particle sim add-on to really set it up, but the two threads have a lengthy discussion on both approaches. Should get you started. Remember, you can play with both add ons without purchase (your render will be watermarked), so you can test out both methods, but also remember the big FXHOME sale this week. This will probably be the best time to purchase add-ons until the Xmas sale.

A couple of hints to start you off. Sound is vibration in a medium - air, water, even a solid object. The most important thing is the higher density of water tends to muffle higher frequency sound. Start with an EQ plug in and roll of the highs (above 10KHz) a lot and roll off the mids (800Hz to 10KHz) a bit less. That will start getting the proper muffle. Audio volume drops off more in water than air, so distant sounds will be quieter than you'd mix for air. After that, find some stock audio of some gurgling or maybe bubbles as a base sound. That should get you started.
