Got my learners recently and went on a rural highway for the first time, a pretty big step from the neighborhood. My dad wouldn't stop swearing at me lol, so i really hope this tip helps.
how you can see if right foot is in center or not? I am hearing abt this technique but it looks like very hard to image your right foot with middle unless you lean bit to right and see. am I missing something?
@@newuser4101 First of all look far ahead into your lane. It sounds very simple but when you're a beginner you tend to look next to the nose of the car because you want to protect your bubble. The car looks and feels very big when you're just learning. This is the most important tip. Think of when you walk, you usually look ahead and your legs just walk you where your eyes are focused. Your right foot will be either on the brakes or gas pedal. You can position the car so your right foot is aligned with the middle of your lane. Just scan far ahead and your hand will follow your eyes. Shortly after it becomes very natural.
im a beginner and a good way i've found to know if im centered or not is just looking straight ahead, i dont focus on my side mirror or car at all i just imagine myself moving in the middle of the road its hard to explain but when you're doing it you can feel if you're in the center or not
I’ve never drove b4 I started doing my lessons im on my 4th lesson so far and you’re right I notice when I’m looking straight ahead and stay relax I stay centered
@@katherineknight5899 yea and when you lose focus u start to get out and lose where you are in the road, thats what always happens to me when i try to chat with my dad/mom beside me
you are doing it correct! just look far ahead and dont think about the car. if you are looking at your dashboard and trying to keep it in line with the centerline you are doing it wrong, this video is ridiculous.
Just forget about the car and imagine you are walking in the middle of the road that’s it but you have to look at your front not down don't worry about where are the tires going to
@@3alaiyer just like how you do ut when you walk on the sidewalk. How do you stay centered in the sidewalk? You look ahead and follow a straight line to reach where your eyes at!
I dont remember where but I’ve always used the 2 lines on each side of your car coming together like a tip of a triangle pointing to the center of the lane
just keep the wheel straight. us roads are big to begin with just drive straight and don’t think abt whether ur to much right or left just stay in the lines
My way is to imagine a point in the center of the lane ahead of you and just follow that point with your car, and you will naturally keep the car in the middle of the lane. This also works if you are driving through a narrow lane or if there is a wall on your left/right. Instead of worrying about getting too close to the wall, just follow the imaginary point ahead in the middle of the road because you'll naturally keep far enough from the wall by doing so.
No this is totally wrong need to look as far as they can because if they keeping seeing dashboard the car will go off lane when you look far at horizon your eyes automatically bring the car to the lane and to the point video is talking
@@GISTWITHJENNY in the video they say if the sticker on the edge of the car (from the front view of the driver seat there’s a sticker on every left edge of a car) if that sticker is aligning with the road markings from the left, then you are on the center. so the commenter is saying: since the distance between the seat and the steering wheel determines how you will see the sticker on the side of the car, then if you sit very far or very close with your seat the distance will be changed. so he’s basically saying this is a wrong measure to where the center is as it can change any time you change your seat.
How about you all forget about being "centered in the lane" amd focus on your surroundings. This is why someone sits in the passing lane or changes lanes cutting you off at a slower speed instead of letting you oass.
wow this is terrible advice, you should never be using a part of your car as an indicator of where you are at in the lane, this would be something a person who is terrible at driving would do.... proper driving would be you are looking far ahead of where you are , not even seeing the dashboard....if you are lookin far ahead then you will naturally stay in the lane. this explains why their are so many bad drivers, if you are needing to line yourself up this way you should not be driving.
You are correct however if you are a beginner and you don’t have this idea also you will not know what reference to fix with. This gentleman also needs to add to look far and compare the car pointed dashboard part in the video and secondly keep on fixing. Last tip when you hold the steering too tight looking far will hardly work. If you folllow those three tips it will work 1. hold steering firmly 2. Look far 3. Compare with mid dashboard Those 3 tips should be applied all together in order for a beginner car to stay in lane.
I agree! I never had any issue knowing if I was in the lane or not, and this advice on this video is terrible, this is not how you should do it. look far ahead and just drive.
