Ok so I NEVER make comments on RU-vid videos but omggg this was sooo good! I think the measurements are too large if you’re making it for a small dipping sauce but other than that it’s AMAZING! Thank you so much for sharing!
Thanks a lot ❤ it turned out perfect & i made the thick one but i have a question, can you please answer it? To get the authentic flavour can i use a little bit of fish sauce into it?
Hi Khadiza I think you can add some, just take into consideration that fish sauce is salty too, and it might affect the taste. Really happy to hear that your sauce turned out perfect, thank you for trying this recipe :)
Hi there, I have the ingredients & measurements for the thin & thick consistency sauce on the description box, kindly check it out, and thank you so much for the support, really appreciate it! :)
@@CookingforInspiration i commented this while the sauce is on the stove😭 i still didn't have the cornstarch, but i found out that sugar does the trick well enough though. My friends loved it! Thanks for this video nonetheless🩷
My first answer would have been no because the meat would burn easily because of the sugar in the marinade & tocino has annatto powder for its red color, but I was thinking if you would cook the marinated meat in the same manner as you would with tocino especially with longer-to-cook meat like pork belly, ribs or cheeks (boiling & simmering in water until liquid evaporates & letting the meat fry in its own oil) then it would probably mimic the sweetness & tenderness of tocino or another way is to pan fry lightly seasoned meat & just add the sweet soy sauce as a sauce for the meat. Thanks Aleckz, really glad to see you here!
I am gluten intolerant. All the commercial thick soy sauces contain wheat. So I used Gluten Free Lee Kum Kee Soy Sauce to make this recipe. I made the one with thick consistency, and it turned out delicious! I even used it as dipping sauce. Would this recipe be comparable to Chinese Cooking Caramel sauce? Thanks for sharing this recipe. Really appreciate it.
Hi Emma not sure if this sauce is comparable to Chinese caramel sauce, although both are sweet, I guess there's a difference in the cooking method & some ingredients☺. It's really nice that LKK have a wide variety of excellent sauces👍really appreciate your feedback, thank you so much☺
hello there, I believe it's actually asking for dark soy sauce which is unsweetened & can be bought in stores, while kecap manis is an Indonesian sweet soy sauce & this recipe I have here is also sweet soy sauce
Hi Rexcel Anne, I'm sorry I really don't know if their taste is similar, haven't tried the sauce you've mentioned, what I can tell you is that this recipe here is a bit sweet & salty, maybe you can give it a try :), thanks for dropping by!
good day to you too, Paul! I'm not sure if this is what they use on their fried rice, but you can absolutely use this sauce in place of regular soy sauce on fried rice & other dishes. Thanks a lot for dropping by! :)
Hi Mel pwedeng dipping sauce yong thin consistency para dyan meron din akong ginawang quicker version nito : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eXYWKtjsULo.html thanks for dropping by :)
I usually use the thin consistency as a dipping sauce or as basting sauce for BBQs, while with the thick consistency I use it to flavor other dishes although it can also be used as a dipping sauce but I use less since it has been reduced(concentrated) so it is a bit more salty & sweet
hi Jhorelyn pwede itong sawsawan para sa mga iyan (yung thin consistency) ang sauce na to ay matamis na maalat ng kunti, pwede syang magtagal ng mga isang buwan kung ilalagay sa ref pagkatapos gamitin :)
you can use it as a marinade but only 1 or 2 tbsp along with the other seasoning because if you use this solely as your marinade, the meat you are frying or grilling will burn easily because of the sugar. Great to hear that your sauce turned out very good, thank you!
Great Vid, quick question, how do you prevent clumps from forming when adding in the cornstarch? I heard that if added to heat, it can cause clumps.?? Is it only if cornstarch isnt yet a solution?
Hi Omar, just dissolve the cornstarch in water completely (ex: 1 tbsp starch to 2 tbsp water) before adding to the mixture to prevent that & keep stirring the mixture, thanks :)
@snow snow it's ok to use white sugar but use less, maybe start with 1 1/2 cups white sugar instead of 2 cups brown sugar, just adjust later according to your taste
@jekha cloe I haven't tried using flour for this sauce but I think you can use flour as a thickener for the sauce, just thoroughly mix the flour with water before adding in slowly to avoid lumps & don't add all in 1 go & keep stirring Maybe you can experiment with just half of the ingredients & see how it goes :) BTW if you only want dipping sauce for dimsum or siomai, the thin consistency soy sauce (which doesn't require corn starch) would be more ideal .Thanks for dropping by :)
Hi @Afsana Katun the brand I’ve used (Silver Swan Soy Sauce) doesn't really indicate whether it is dark or light soy. I’d say go for dark soy, just adjust ingredients (water or soy or sugar) while cooking to suit your taste.
Store in cool place? Would the fridge be fine? Or would it be better in a cabinet somewhere? Btw this is F**king amazing sauce! I'll probably make from here to my death. 😂
hi @GamingEx, I have an old video for the recipes for sweet & sour and sweet & spicy dipping sauces here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-aktAAIlpqYc.html thanks for dropping by :)
Hi pork, sorry to hear about that, I suppose you added more sugar than what was suggested? if you find it too sweet you can add more water & adjust the soy sauce to suit your taste, thanks for coming by :)
