I am from the south and my grandparents always had gardens. Purple hull peas and colored butter beans were always planted. Paternal and maternal families always seasoned with fat back grease!! The best! One of these two vegetables were always on the dinner table along with fried okra, stewed squash, cornbread, sliced tomatoes and cantaloupe! My mouth is watering just thinking about it!!

We don't eat a lot of home-cooked bacon, either, but I always save the grease. I love cooking it in the air fryer because all the grease goes to the bottom, and you just pour it into a jar. I feel a little guilty cooking with it because of the saturated fat, so I use it sparingly and I never run out! If you store it in the fridge, it lasts a really long time.

Yummy, I'd put Okra in my cereal if I could...adore it, my fave veggie. I'm sure this is great over corn bread, or even rice. Will definitely be making this MUST HAVE dish 🥰

I am growing purple hull peas right now but don't know when to harvest them to make this recipe? I think I picked some too early, the pea looks small and green, not like what's in the video...but i was told to pick them before they dry and while it's still alive. Anyone have any tips?
