You do it right sir and I appreciate so much your build video for this oven/smoker. About to break ground on my own and your work will be my first go-by as I don't (yet) have all of the knowledge you have accumulated throughout your career. Thank you!
I am currently building a pizza oven here in Galway, Ireland 🇮🇪 Your videos are great😁🙌 I am with out a doubt making some caveman steaks when its complete.
+Graham I've got an idea for a steak that I think I'm going to try next in the oven. A steak dish and cut I had never heard of - Brazilian Picanha. You might have to look it up too.
Lee McNeil haha i would never take you for a showboater lee you seem like a pretty decent man. love your cooking videos and your tutorial on how to make an oven. Making preparations for building one myself ill make it somewhat the way you build it only smaller because i dont got a lot of room :) happy cooking!
You are talented! Searched for brick smoke house plans and came up with yours. I love to cook and like the multi purpose thought behind yours. When can you come to my house to build me one?
It's funny you say that. I just smoked some ribs in the oven a couple of weeks ago, and when I reached in to pull the brick out of the smoker flue, I said to myself, this is getting hard to reach as I get older. My solution - i am going to replace the front decorative concrete landing at the mouth of the I've with a piece of granite (not because of this, it's just cracking and is about to break off). When I do that I am going to reduce the overhang on the front landing which will let my body be a little closer when I have to reach into the oven. The problem with putting there mouth too high is that it makes it harder to see the food, especially if someone shorter than me is looking into it.
I want to build a oven. But first must calculate the cost! How much do you think you have in yours? I think I can do this. I have done stone work before. Looks like a several weeks project for curing time. Thinking (6) weeks?
I spent around $1,500 to $2,000 on material but it takes a lot of labor. I think you can start the curing fires around a week after you finish laying the inner dome. You can watch the video of how I built the oven here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Y2vuY2kL5bw.html.
I've always thought that idea sounds like it might yield good results, but then everyone and their cousin says that you should take the steak out of the refrigerator 30 minutes before you cook it for some reason. I am going to give that a try some day.
