This is how to make the cloth stretcher
We call it «Thor’s Comb» and it’s a useful tool for every tufter.
If you want to stretch your primary tufting cloth like a god, you definitely need this bad boy.
Buy a wooden mallet and fix it on a vise in the following position you can see on the video.
Now take a drill with a 3 mm attachement and drill several holes at regular intervals.
You need nails with a 3 mm diameter. Steel is better than iron but both works.
With a bolt cutter you can cut off the heads of the nails.
Now put the nails in to the holes. The goal is for the nails to peak out of the hole between 1.5 - 2 cm.
With the help of the leverage effect you can stretch the cloth as much as possible, so you can tuft on it easier.
We will show you exactly how to use the stretcher in the upcoming tutorials.
