By placing the stems in the fridge to harden for 3 days, then clip the ends, take outside and push the stems into a large pot of soil. Put in a shaded spot until you notice growth, move to sun. I always ask for mixed roses because that way when I take the stems to the garden I get a wonderful mix of lovely free roses.

The 100% rose water in the store is /real/ rose water. This is rose infusion...just rose tea. Still great stuff! but like you said you'll lose some of the volatile oils that get destroyed in the boiling process. A better method would be to steep them in Boiled (not boiling) water in a container with a tight fitting lid for 20 mins (i use mason jars for my herbal infusions) but if you want to make true rose water, you'll have to use a distillation method, which is still very simple, but has a couple extra thing you'll need light a large bowl of ice. Still a great tutorial otherwise! also it's a good idea to wash the petals beforehand if they came from a florist so that there's no sprays or other junk on them.

You can add 1 Tablespoon of vodka for every 2 cups of rose water, to preserve it for up to 30 days. 😊

Just to clarify this is a rose tea. Not traditional rose water. Rose water is from a distillation process. While this rose tea still is good and can be used many ways it can stain bc of the color. Traditional rose water is clear in color. But still a sweet gesture!

What I'd love to see is Rose Jam! When I lived in Poland I got to love donuts that have rose jam as the filling, they're fairly common.

I use the roses from my tree in my backyard... rinse, boil on medium or almost medium for 30 mins, turn it off let it sit for 30 more minutes then put it to use 😊

THE BEST rose water is a distilled concentration of the,oils and vitamins. The roses are steam distilled, and the condensate is collected. This is how you find it in stores. It will be clear and keep for several months. Boiled roses are not true rose water, it will stain and it will keep about a week. The "stuff in the store" is stronger, more concentrated and keeps much longer than this. You can also cold infuse roses. A small amounr of rose distillate can be added to regular bottled water and used. In this way, one batch of rose water can last 4 to 6 months after making. Because roses usually do not have a long season.

Another use for roses: We're trying to root some, they're growing new leaves from the old nodes and I got the flowers to dry and use how I want to, we just cut the flowers off and put them in fresh water :))

You can’t use Roses from the store that are full of chemicals. True rose water is indeed a byproduct of distilled roses. You get oil and water. The water is full of true rose essential which is the actual rose water with real benefits and no chemicals. You’re still so sweet to make this for your wife.

I’ve watched 5 different rose water videos and so far yours is the best!!! I like the idea of putting a weighted bowl on top of the flowers to help submerge the petals. I also enjoyed how you wring out the petals to get the last of their juices. Watching true prior videos I always thought to myself, “Why don’t they wring out the petals?!” Lol. Also, the thing about the steam was very informing. Too bad it doesn’t last longer….do you have any advice on the preservation? Would I just use a bit of rose oil..? Thank you for the tutorial. This seems more like rose tea. Can you do a double boiler method? It may protect the volatile oils better and properties from slow low heat like when you make herb infused oils for salves. I keep seeing a video where ice is used and it looks so strange lol. 🤦🏾‍♀️ Grapefruit seed extract is my favorite preservative. You are incredibly thoughtful and I appreciate your video. Regardless, rose tea still gets the job done with freshening up and toning and cleansing with fragrance!

😬 it’s great to repurpose but… Just a tip; flowers from the florist are full of harmful chemicals & pesticides not ideal for putting on your skin as it will absorb them. Better to use untreated flowers from your neighbor’s yard or your own. Hope that’s helpful
