How To Make The Mojito - Booze On The Rocks

Today on Booze On The Rocks we are looking at the Classic Mojito. Its history and How To Make it!
** EDIT** This drink actually belongs to the julep family.
Mojito
INGREDIENTS
8-12 mint leaves
4 Lime wedges
2 oz/30 ml White Rum
3/4 oz/22ml Fresh Lime Juice
1/2 oz/15ml Simple Syrup
Top with club soda
Mint Sprig
METHOD
1. Spank the mint
2. Muddle the limes and the Mint gently in the glass.
3. Half fill with crushed ice, then stir in an upward motion
4. Add rum and simple syrup and lime juice.
5. Add more ice top with club soda.
6. Garnish with mint sprig

Somewhere recently I learned that mojito is actually a variety of mint native to Cuba. How cool is that! Think I'll grab me a few plants and grow next summer. :-)

Thanks for your vid, I love a good mojito. If you ever see some Vietnamese mint, grab some, crush it in your hands and use that for garnish with that, wowee, it’s something else!

How's it David. Say if you don't have simple syrup, would lime cordial be a good substitute?

Your could do that, It would change the flavour slightly in an interesting way.

I know. I made a mistake. It should have been .5 oz/15 ml.

@@tyreekrobertson2536 No. Because we are building it in the glass. However if you were serving at a bar you might do it the other way in case you get called away from drink. that way it does not dilute to much.

I'm sorry Man but this is wrong! Mojito belong to "Julep" family cocktail, like Mint julep. You have to review your study!
