In Spain we have a really similar version of this dish, its called torrijas, and is basically the same as the French toast but we fried them and add a lot of sugar to it, so we can say that they are the more caloric version of the typical French toast. But the looks of this French toast is really similar to a torrija.

I actually tried making this by myself which I did today and it came Really well. I didn't have vanilla so I added white sugar but still came out really well and I even added the toppings the Rock added to his french toast. Thanks Gully

You don't need the sugar or the cream. Just 2 percent milk, eggs , vanilla, cinnamon, and a dash of nutmeg. Dip your brioche twice, fry it in a quarter stick of butter. Brown it slow on one side, with a quarter stick of butter on the raw top side. When the butter is half melted on the top, spread it around to all 4 corners, and flip it. Throw another quarter stick in the pan and fry it slow and low till it's done to your liking. For thick bread, I put it in a 400 deg oven for 10 min so the inside isn't soggy. When it's done, put the last quarter stick of butter on the top and pour Mrs Butterworths over it, with a moat of log cabin around that on the plate. I had a vegan eating meat with this recipe, not to mention getting laid.
