I am 73 and I’m just learning to crochet. This was a really easy stitch but I wish you would’ve done one more row because I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to chain three and turn every time. I really seem to have a problem at the beginning and the end of rows. Thank you.

That sounds like a great idea! I just made a herringbone half double crochet border for my Suzette Baby Blanket. I think that would look nice! Or you could make a few rounds of double crochets.

Hello🤗 I am currently making a baby blanket with this pattern. The problem I am having is making 3 chains at the end of each row. I have always chained 2 when working with a double crochet. I'm about 1/3 done with the blanket and the 2 side edges are longer than the center of the blanket from that extra chain at the end of each row. Any thoughts?

Hello Nicole! When working 3 chains at the end of your row, it does leave a little bit of a gap. You could always chain 2 instead. Typically I chain 2 when doing most double crochet patterns, unless it's a chevron. Try that out and see how it looks. Good luck!

Beautiful blanket, and good tutorial. I just wish you were a bit louder. 🙂 And chain is a multiple of 2? (Any even number, plus 2 more?) I've never heard anyone describe it quite the way you do, so I'm a little confused. So, I could chain 80, plus 2. Is that correct?

Thanks for watching! This was an older video of mine. I will probably redo some of them to get the volume better. Yes, that's correct. You will make an even numbered chain and add two more chains onto the very end. This will help keep everything in balance.

I would say try 300 chains. You may need to adjust your sizing depending on how big you want it to be, but this should be a good starting point. Good luck!

@@user-rb2bi1dh9m Hi! In order to make an adult size blanket, you will chain a multiple of 2. As everyone's gauge is different, I suggest laying your chain along your bed or your couch to see if that's the width you would like. You can try 300 chains, not 299 as I made a mistake, and see if that works for you. Otherwise you can add more chains as you desire.

I have a beginner question! I’d like to do 3 colors (rows). I chained 150+2. Which makes the width about 47”. How can I balance out my colors /rows correctly? I am gifting this to an elderly friend.

If you want to do 3 colors and have your blanket be around the same length as 47 inches, I would do 16 inches per color. This will make your blanket about 48 inches long. Hope that helps!

Yes, at the end of each row, you will work one double crochet in the top of the chain stitch.

How many chains for a full size blanket?

Because everyone's gauge is different, I can't give an exact amount, but I would say maybe chain around 243-245? You will just need to chain a multiple of 2 until your desired width. I suggest laying your chain over your bed and see if you like the width or not. You can always add or remove stitches. I hope that helps!

How can I repair a v stitch afghan that has unraveled in the middle? It was where I had tied an invisible knot. While crocheting I’m not sure how it happened, but I’m at a loss as how to fix it.

It’s hard to say without seeing it, but it might be easier to make a whole new blanket if it’s damaged. Unless there’s a way to use the strands in the middle to create the v stitches once again. I wish you luck!
