I wrapped my mandrel with electrical tape. the ca melted the tape. I had hell getting the ring off the mandrel and still after a lot of work haven't gotten all the tape out of the ring. So, buyer beware. I did like the video I just wanted to share the warning about electrical tape.
Can anyone give me advice on easy to get polishing compounds? It is insanely expensive to add ASTRO polish to my order(shipping costs roughly €15 without and €55+ with ASTRO polish). Will stuff like brasso or silvo do the job when polishing my rings with opals and the like?
I think brasso might work after you've gone up the grits of sand paper. you might also look into getting laping compound, might be able to find some locally.
