How To Make Toy Train Wheels 

I'm glad I saw this one. For some reason it reminded me of odd places I "saw a train wheel" in something common. Alternate ideas to washers-Heavy duty clothing/canvas "pull the dot", "snaps", type fasteners, electric lamp hardware, and crimpable rope eylets might speed this flange creation some. Also think about a 1/2"/13mm o.d. automotive tube flairing tool for flanges and tire/tread, then cap the tube and flange & drill. ("6 prewar US Marx-2 axle wagons- tad under 3/4" flange o.d. with 1/2" tread od.. I think this size may also be on the Ives Joy Line. I just did a dozen candle wax molds in the center of an old Scotch Tape spool(easy release), later re-filled with wax blank, greased, laid in original JB Weld and one in Devcon clear epoxy for fun. Nicer ones need no dressing other than cutting off some flange flash. They just need a hole drilled (blocked with toothpick for wax pour, they actually have an outer axle nub and just need an inner axle. Tip: Wait for 100% cure to ensure flanges dont warp during wax removal or finger pressure while dressing, etc.

Good work. But there is a problem. Making 2 or 4 wheels is okay but when we make a whole train bogie than these handmade wheels are no of the exact same Size and hence doesn't fit into the train. Plus the efforts are also little longer. Please find and suggest some method in which we can make wheels with ready to use items (like single hole buttons) Plus suggest to make at least 6 trains of 10 coaches. I mean suggest easy quick method for mass production

Great Tutorial. For a while now I've been planning on making my own tinplate style train I know I can do it with thin scrap metal & tin snipping tools & some old Marx Trains motors, but one stumbling block was Wheels. I did buy Old scrap eBay train lots for the wheels, and paid pennies on the dollar because they were considered scrap (Now I do have lots of real wheels), but it's good to know how to make my own & not have to rely on eBay. I will be giving it a shot.
