Well I like that you posted a video on seating.👍 I would suggest 4 in of soft foam over 1 in of hard foam if you want to be in the kayak for more than a few minutes..you must have a iron butt.😀 I don't think that's the kind of foam that that plan suggested. I've built that foam seat many times it's my job. I usually cover it with vinyl when I'm done, or sunbrella. Bass boat seats. Thanks for the video I like watching it. 👍💯
Thanks for the feedback and suggestions. I will try these seats to start with and if necessary (not iron butt enough) I will improve according to your instructions. Do you have any suggestions on gluing? I think the solvents in the contact adhesive might have dissolved the foam partly and still did not make a perfect tight joining. Perhaps a polyurethane based adhesive would have worked better?
@@sailoutofagarage6212 yes you'd want to purchase weld wood contact adhesive. I believe y'all have home Depot at least in Stockholm. I checked it's sold in there. it's also the same contact adhesive you put laminate wood on with. there is no wait time takes about a minute for it to tack, and when stuck down it's instant. No second try. Another thing is you can shape it with an electric filet knife, that's how I shape my foam. But I would just grab a 4-in piece of foam cut to a little square and use it one day, just to see if you like it. I like the way you made a couple for experimenting. cuz you never know till you know. Never trust how thick a piece of foam is until you sit on it that's what I found. They like to make yoga mats out of fancy gell type foams. and swimming pool floating loungers out of special closed cell foam too. Because you'll find that foam is super expensive.
