Nice dress, but am a bit confused @the part where you joined the first layer, did you join it up to the sleeve? Could you pls explain I didn't get that part on how you attach the fist layer to the upper bodies.

Love this! What was the width on the middle and bottom layers for yours? Did you just take whatever the length of the bodice was times 3 to come up with the length for the middle piece and so on? I hope I'm making sense.
@@VikVarWoo middle layer: chest circumference ×3; bottom layer: the double of the middle layer. For the sleeve layer you can take the double or triple of your arm circumference I hope i helped you
Such beautiful work!! May I ask your personal opinion. I think I love pleats more than gathers because they seem to have a better look on thin ladies. I'm 5'10" and even after having six babies, I only weigh 145 lbs at age 56. No complaints from me or my husband! LOL My shape is pretty decent; but from the front I look a little more straight than I do from the side and back. Therefore, it seems sometimes a square cut and gathers may not be the best for my shape and size. What are your thoughts as to me possibly cutting an A or bell shape instead of the rectangle or square and pleating instead of gathers? Thanks so much! Keep up this excellent work and the pic with your daughter is sooo beautiful!!! I still so with and for my daughter and she's 32! Just love it!

You can make as wide as you want. My bottom was 120 inches long and i pleated to match the width of the top, my top width is 45 inches wide .My sleeve opening is 9 inches wide. Hope this helps you

Yes! Or make all the layers a bit longer, because otherwise the dress can get very heavy. If you want to make it longer, you could make all the layers a bit longer and then do x1.5 instead of times two.
No, thicker ladies also look beautiful in this style of dress. Actually, as a think lady, I have to make sure the dress is not too wide or too short for me because it will make my legs look like pegs if it's too much.
She said the top layer is 3 times the width of her bodice and then the second layer is double the first. For example, if the bodice is 32 inches, multiply that by 3 to cut 96 inches. Double that which would be 192 inches for the second layer. Remember, that example is based upon 32 inches wide. You use whatever you width is for your bodice. Happy sewing!
