Guys I made this and here's a tip, after you have all the 3 ingredients stirred together don't cook it too long or else it'll turn into hard Carmel candy.... which isn't pretty because it gets stuck in your pan and it's hard to scrub off
Iceytiger181 Tip: If your caramel ends up stuck to your pan just soak it in water overnight. Hot water would be your best bet and change it as much as possible for quicker results. Sugar just dissolves in water.
Hi alternatively, half fill your pan with water and a small spot of washing up liquid and put it back on the stove, boil it up and simmer while you stir with a spatula to dissolve the caramel, when it's all dissolved you can rinse it through till the pan is cool enough to touch and wash as normal. This method always works for me
I would probably use brown sugar then add a little bit of coconut oil (solid at room temp) as a butter substitute. And probably leave out the milk. The non-vegan version I use doesn't need milk. The liquid in the cream is enough, and will evaporate to give a thicker consistency for dripping on cakes.
Love this recipe, made it last year and kept it in the fridge and it lasted a few months wothout spoiling to my surprise! Making it again this year. Thank you.
Just made this, worked wonderfully! changed 2 things: first used lactose free milk for the milk, as the only reason I'm cooking this was because I'm lactose intolerant, but those of you wondering, yes it works. The second was when it was done it tasted a bit in the harsher side of carmel flavor (the burnt sugar flavor) so to counter this I added a bit more coconut cream at the end with the vanilla and this really evened it out. Really good recipe, worked just like it said. Be patient with every step! sometimes it seems you ruined it when it's just you didn't wait long enough. I'm excited to actually have caramel for the first time in YEARS on my New Year's Eve banana splits! (my families tradition!)
I'm finding this video 3 years late lol but to make a thicker caramel, you heat it to a higher temp. Increased or decreased heating temperatures are what make the variations in the final products consistency.
We're excited to try this. My child has alpha gal syndrome, which is an allergy to all mammal meats and byproducts. We won't be using white sugar though because it contains bone char and isn't actually vegan. Her body is a vegan lie detector machine.
This is a caramel sauce. If you want to make toffee you would have to cook sugar to the hard crack stage. There should be vegan toffee recipes on youtube.
it is really much better not to stir te sugar when melting. And the easiest way is to dissolve the sugar with a little water (one-third of the sugar) and to let that cook. It wil be a much better caramel because you won't gen any lumps.
I just tried it with brown sugar its currently in the fridge so I'll keep you updated once I try it but it tastes horrible when it was semi warm so maybe the flavour will kick in once its cool😭😹
Coconut creme. Sometimes it can be bought in a can, but if you can only find coconut milk in the can, you can put it in the refrigerator overnight and all the "cream" will come to the top. You can then spoon off the cream, but pour away the watery liquid underneath.
You'll need some sort of saturated fat (solid at room temp). A common plant-based saturated fat is coconut oil which coconut cream has a high content of. Maybe you could try food grade cocoa butter if you don't want to use coconut cream/oil.
Can You Use Coconut Sugar Instead??🤔... Or Perhaps, For 1/2 The Sugar Ingredients!!??🤔😞😉... And How About Replacing The Plant Based Milk With Almond Milk... Would That Be Considered "Plant Based" Enough!!??🤔😞.... As I Only Have The Coconut Milk & Almond Milk On Hand!!??🤔😞... Also... What's Your Opinion On The Best Plant Based Milk To Keep On Hand!!??🤔😞🤗
Boil some water in the dirty pan. I always do so, then the caramel will disappear in the water. And then you can wash it like normal with some dish soap.
put some water in the pan. Enough to cover where the caramel was. Put it back on the stove and boil it for a few minutes. The caramel will loosen and you can clean the pot. We used to do this in baking and pastry school. You're just putting water in the pot/pan and boiling it . Easy Peasey.
Um.Kenya.Not Some sugar is not but there is Vegan Certified sugar that you can find at Whole Foods Market or any organic or natural store. Just look for Vegan Certified on the container or bag! Or look for Raw Sugar. Bleached Sugars like Domino is NOT vegan! Just research vegan brands of sugar.
Pretty much any refined sugar is processed with bone char. Cheap white sugar is usually processed with Bone Char. Brown sugar usually is too, since it is just the same white sugar with molasses. There's lots of alternatives. I usually use Sugar in The Raw and coconut sugar. I also just switch that out sometimes for some agave or maple syrup.
Don't know about English speaking countries, but in some countries people condense dairy milk or cream until it turns into toffee, and they call that caramel too, which is why the tag 'vegan' was very helpful for me to find this recipe.
vissey LMFAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooo omg 😩🤣🥴 this comment made my day because that’s what I was thinking, love the video but the music is a NO NO
Please please re-edit this video and remove the music, or replace with an instrumental track and crank up the voice channel on your software! I and thousands of people will be highly appreciative! :D
