that looks awesome! I'm amazedyou got it to be so robust considering the materials. for applying the vinyl i think i would have cut the backing down the middle and tried to stick it from the middle outwards, one side at a time (kinda like edge banding or worktop vinyl installation) but impressive that it ended up so neat

If it weren't so 'veiny' in the middle part, I probably would have started there! But it's so flimsy with so many 'windows', so starting at the thickest parts seemed to make sense at the time. Honestly, I don't know if there was a right answer here lol. Thanks so much for your support!

For the actual vinyl application, cricut makes a clear transfer vinyl that you stick on the front so you can peel the backing off and line it all up without trying to wrangle the paper backing! I'm sure other brands make something similar for cheaper since cricut vinyl always seems overpriced

Oh that sounds like a freaking gem. I still need to get a Cricut or other cutter...I just haven't pulled the trigger yet.

Hello! These wings look amazing and I’m wanting to attempt to make butterfly wings for my SO using this and your Cosplay Central tutorials! I did have a question that I don’t know which tutorial to look for the answer in, but how do you attach this style wing (to the other wings and to wear)/does it have to be on armor of some type? I’m really pumping to try out your tutorial bc your wings look the sturdiest of the tutorials I’ve been able to find.

Hey! Thank you so much for the compliments! For this, I found PVC piping that was a size larger than the aluminum tube. You slide the end of the aluminum tube for the wings into the pipe and then I have a pin that goes through the tube system to hold everything in place. This way I could detach wings for transport. The PVC tubes were affixed to an aluminum/acrylic backplate and then strapped to my back like a backpack.
