This looks like a claymation but less work on the frame by frame animation aspect. I thought this software would work only for 2D, but seeing this tutorial opens a lot of options! Thank you so much!

If you guys are pushing for character animator to be a thing you need to answer the questions that people have involving issues or confusion. Or else they will give up on the program. This thing has potential.

If you need questions answered, go to the "Okay Samurai" channel. The Devs for Character Animator use that channel for tutorials and troubleshooting.

Hi everyone, after tagging and setting the walking behavior to my puppet, when I go to the scene to preview the motion I get the following error: failed to parse motion from file Error code: Adobe.walk.js:508 . It's been now three days since I am trying to figure out a solution but nothing worked. Any advise? What should I do to solve this problem? Thanks

This is fantastic I am learning how to make my animation characters wlak They already talk and I should have a full animation ready for the screen in August Just wanted to thank you and few others on You Tube that have helped me in my quest. Interesting process. Quite an economical form of Stop-mo. Maddie certainly has a strong resemblance to Coraline, but prior to having blue hair. Such a big coincidence.

Am I able to use one of my jpeg cartoons in Character Animator, and make my cartoon auto lip sync just like the program's stock puppets already do? I can't find anything on RU-vid that allows me to animate my own already created cartoon? All of the RU-vid videos talk about creating a puppet from scratch, but I want to use my own image and make my cartoon auto lip sync with my voice.

Great job on the video, I have been given the task of making the video similar to this. And want ask few question about the procedure.first of all,I wanted to ask about lipsync. About how you achieve a proper lipsync on this 3D character. And in which software you did it. Secondly if you could give me some advice on how you split this character, and reassembled it in Photoshop. And one more thing,if you would know of how to put lipsync on the character,since I made them on Adobe fuse. Lastly I have downloaded the medifile ,that you have suggested,and wandering which software you used to open puppet files.pls reply asap . SinceI am also on dead line. This is probably going to seem like a stupid question to a lot of you but well, please excuse me. I'm intending to use customised puppets created in character animator in other applications such as Camtasia & Powtoon which I currently use to create training content. From what I understand it would be the scenes I need to export right? I guess that means the puppet will be on a backround that I'll need to remove somehow and not re-sizeable within the other applications? sorry again for the newbie question!

Hi, I have the same issue. I can see your comment is old so you must have found a solution. I set the handle tool for all the mentioned body parts in the tutorial, but it is only showing number 1 beside the Neck, and only the neck moves when I return to the scene, not any other organ. I also tried everything and tried to figure out if there are any differences in setting up the other parts of the body, but cannot find anything. Appreciate if you can help.

Hi, yes they have ( I think the first vid when you search for character animotr tutorial... "pupet from scratch") + you can just download the files they provide on their website and then work with those pupets or you change the eyes etc. in every solid. ... then you already have the solid-structure done right...

Sure, as long as you break each limb into its own layer. Layers that just have the left arm, torso, right leg, etc.

I notice the current Maddy file available for download doesn't quite have the same file folder structure as shown here. For example, in the tutorial (at :27), you say (and show) there is a "…top level +character name group followed by head and body groups inside." The file I downloaded has, inside the top level +character name group, +Frontal, +Right Profile and +Left Profile groups. And then inside each of these folders there are Head and Body groups. This makes me wonder if there are important hierarchical changes between Ch Beta and the current version. If so, is there a more recent walking tutorial?
