Accelerate to half your max rpms, mantain a few seconds, stop accelerating, push the throttle gently. Also after downshifting give some gas but not to hard, stop accelerating and prapapraaapa

Basically, when the car is rolling in gear it is forced to maintain the same rpm correlative to the wheels rotating, but then the engine will run on as little fuel as possible, if you then apply a little gas its not enough to make any difference in speed but enough to feed the engine excess fuel which then causes backfiring.

I've found that I happen to be driving down hill at 3k the pops will be even louder and bang sometimes 💥💥

I actually figured this out on my 96 Subaru lol but it didn't come stock with a tach so I didn't know where to rev it to. Tried with my outback and didn't work. Gonna try this with it soon though. Hope it works!

I have a 2011 Camaro SS V8 6.2 and im starting to get the general idea of it. I've gotten some nice pops out of it, but I still have a lot to learn. Practice makes perfect! I can do it on a down shift a lot easier than reving the Rpms up.

I have a Hyundai GDi 1.6L with muffler delete, it pops Loud for a small engine.

Backfiring street cars used to indicate the engine needed tuned. In Belfast, I believe, on several occasions, the army opened fire on backfiring cars. Usually it happened because the mixture was too rich, causing unburnt fuel to ignite in the exhaust pipe. People there were pretty damn quick to get their vehicles tuned, not wishing a 7.62 round in their rear end. How times have changed.

I used to have an MG ZS and all I had to do was change down to 1st and let the engine hold it back. No pedal input. Worked so well especially going down hill.

I think it's well explained - works for me in my Z4 E85 3.0i exactly like you said: warm/hot exhaust, press the Sport button and find the sweet spot in the rev range :)

what bmw 320i did you drive? I've tried this in my e90 and it does not seem to work i have no resonator and a straight through sports muffler which is about half the size of the stock.

So I got a toyota celica GTS and it’s automatic. And i tried it on “M” mode (Manuel stick buttons) and it worked!! Lol i was going crazy hahaha. Also I did a muffler delete 6 months ago so it’s even louder. Thanks man

I had a 3.3 Dodge caravan in park truly straight piped a true straight pipe is no resonators so in park held exsaust constant then hit gas hard and let go throttle and shoot fire out side sounded like fun shot

I've got a straight 6 in my 88 f150, pops like that starting at 1500 rpm in 2nd

My 1997 gmc serria we took the pipe because it was quite and we straight pipe and it back fires like crazy you here some loud pops and I want the other truck to do the same

You’re hearing overrun, the drivetrain is pushing the engine rather than the other way around, by having your foot slightly on the throttle you’re allowing additional fuel into the engine

I’ve got a manual straight piped Jeep Renegade and I can get it to backfire sometimes but it never works when I try this. I only get a few little pops when I get it to work just by revving relatively high. Any ideas?

it used to be real easy with carbureted engines. I showed a friend how to do it back then and he instantly blew the muffler off his moms station wagon.

You can't do it with all cars.. petrol cars do it way more easily and of course if you have a car with a high displacement like this one you have basically all what you need to make pops, but it depends a lot of the engine that you have on your car and the way it was built by the landmark, that's a lot of thinks that can make the difference like the distribution, Ignition point, etc..

When you say throttle do you mean accelerator, as i have a manual.

So you can confirm in an of chevy cobalt LS will work to.. i mean i got no exhaust atm... but i got an aftermarket exhaust on way... but yeah... you can confirm itll work to for the 05 cobalt LS? Not the SS or the 2.2L with supercharger but the 2.0L LS

Cut you’re exhaust off and push the pedal till it redlines and you will get his noise but even louder kids, hold the pedal for anti lag;)

when I had my 07 z4 i did this all the time. Became a habit lol. I have not found another car that does the same thing. Sadly I do not have my z4 anymore :( was too slow for my liking. I had the muffler delete as well as a resonator delete. I would be able to rev it all the way to redline and it would pop like gunshots.

Hey @itsjoel I've literally been living off this channel... Well done mate keep up the excellent content...... However... I might be asking a silly question that has been answered.... If so please redirect me to the needed videos..... Any way.... Is it in any way possible to post comparison videos... Sounds of crackle and pops... With back box deleted and some with middle box... Or resonators deleted I'm somewhat on the fence as I badly want more crackle and pops and aggressive sounds.... But I don't want to be droney and headache loud... (my e36 gives me enough of that)... Mate I'd appreciate any feedback... Or advice... Even if you tell me to stop being a panzy and just delete the whole rear box and say "it's not that bad ure neighborhood will sleep" just looking to make a more informed decision which I won't regret.... hahahaha cheers mate Elario
