How To Make Your Guinea Pig Love You: Ep.3 | Tips For Beginners | GuineaDad

Guess who's back with the third and final episode of the series where I talk about 6 signs you should look out for to know that your guinea pig loves you... it's me, GuineaDad! Don't give up if they don't show those signs yet, every guinea pig is different. I'll share some GuineaDad tested and approved tips to help you win the love and affection of your piggies. It might take some time and effort, but in the end, it will be all worth it.
In this episode, I'll cover the remaining signs that your guinea pig will show if they love you: they will wheek when you approach them, will sleep around you (especially if their eyes are closed!), and will come to you on command. For those levels, I'll share two more tips that I personally tried with my piggies. You'll only need: a GuineaDad Liner, a soft thin blanket, and your voice. Stay tuned until the end for hidden level 7, where we focus on the piggie's mental stimulation. This is where fun interactive floor time comes into play! They do love to see you, but let's be honest, no matter how amazing and loving you are, they are wheeking for food. Piggies are ALWAYS hungry. My piggies would start wheeking as soon as I was home from work. Not just when I got home from work. I lived on the 3rd floor, and I would hear them start as soon as I opened the squeaky apt door downstairs. As I would descend the stairs (and I am not a heavy loud walker), the wheeking and peeping got louder. It comes to a crescendo when I get to my door. It is the most wonderful, hilarious sound ever known. I LOVE PIGGIES!

I used to have 6 piggies in the past and now left 4 with me. Although i have them up to years and i tried my very best to understand them better and gain their trust but at times im still get confused. Unsure of their feelings towards me or i have completely gain their trust. Thank you for sharing your awesome experiences. Now i have a clearer picture how to interact with them and gratefully they love me! Will work harder from now to achieve lvl 6 :') thanks for created this awesome linings for our lovely fur kids too!

Very nice information to have! I’m new to Guinea pigs, so this is helpful, for sure. I’ve gotten to the point that they will wheek for me and then eat from my hand at the edge of the C&C cage. I’ve learned everything from You Tube, including your videos. I have a 6x2 C&C cage, and sewed my own fleece - four sets, including “pee pads” for the areas they sit and do their pees and poos most often.I have two boys who are about 11 months and two months old. They’re so cute, but I do look forward to the day that they aren’t scared when I try to pick them up!

Special level of trust: they sleep on you on their sides exposing their bellies. Just discovered this level with my 2 current ladies. They're so chill it's almost unbelievable

Hey guineadad, my guinea pig just lost his older brother recently, could you make a video on what to do after your guinea pig’s cage-mate dies? We are trying to find a boar thats the same age as him, but we don’t want to stress him out anymore plus older male guinea pigs are more difficult to find at shelters, and even when you do find one, you have no idea if they are going to get along.

Parker I have the same problem, we had a 1 year old and a 6 year old. The 6 year old boy got pneumonia and he died!

I’m so sorry for your loss. However, guinea pigs get very sad when their cage-mate dies, so I recommend getting another Piggie as soon as you can. Younger piggies tend to bond well with older ones as their dominance is already sorted out.

I've just gotten a 3 mo old male guinea pig for my 9 yr old son and so far "Oreo" has been a great addition to our little family! I was curious about the liners, how often do you change them out? I assume you just wash them normally? Thanks so much for your time!

Hi Chrystal! I am glad to hear that you find our videos very informative. Thank you so much for being such an avid viewer. ❤️ As for your question regarding the liners, although most of our customers can attest that our liners can last a week before it needs a wash, it is best to wash the liner as soon as it starts to smell, extremely soiled or is soaked in pee as the result of the liner may vary from household to household depending on many variables (the number of piggies, how frequent they urinate, their diet, how frequent you spot clean, and etc.) The amount of pee also varies depending on how much water your piggies consume in a day and how often they pee or poop. Please also be advised that smller liners (pee pads, 2x1 and 2x2) does not last as long as our bigger liners due to the difference in size. The smaller the liner the faster it will be soiled and soaked in pee so it's not expected to last a week unlike bigger liners with pocket. 😉

I'm a curious owner so I'm just gonna have a question bomb... 1. I have a 2x3 c and c cage for my two girls is it ok???? ( they are kinda lazy) 2. Does cucumber count as fruit??? 3. Why are my pigs so lazy!?! They are never running around or anything.( they have daily floor time tho where they walk around) other wise they are always napping! 4. ( please please please answer this one) for the past month I've been noticing this: 1 pig is in the hide and the other piggie enters the same hide.Then, that gp runs out screaming! It seems like the pig who was already in the hide does something to the one who goes in and comes out screaming. And what's real weird is it's always the same pigs. Oreos inside and hazel enters and then runs out screaming ( sorry if that doesn't make sense I suck at explaining) but if you do understand please tell me what's happening! I'm really worried

I doubt you will see this, but your question 4 is easy to answer"..sort of.. Oreo sounds like the dominant piggy -Oreo is the leader (or at the very least Oreo is higher in the pecking order than Hazel…). So Hazel runs inside and Oreo puts her in her place by yelling, nipping, etc to get Hazel the message.. I’m a bit concerned that. Hazel actually screams as she runs away.. it is possible that she is a drama queen and yells her loudest.. I would just keep an eye on them.. but don’t be too concerned.. do you have 3 pigs together? (If so, you need to have at least 3 hides in the cage… but I would put 4 or 5 - you can try soft houses or beds or tunnels, some wood houses, etc.. some pigs are picky, so give them lots of choices.. it sounds like Oreo and Hazel both love that one hide - so find another one that Hazel likes just as much… then the arguments will be less..

Is it true when they slightly close their eyes when you pet them that they accept your touches? Also my boys always grind their teeth when i first pick them up but then start to weak at me a few minutes later
