Hey Everyone! In this video I will be showing you how I upgraded my John Deere E120 ride on lawn tractors steering, and front wheels to allow for a smoother, better performing ride. I used what they call the “poor man's power steering” to allow me to turn my lawn mower easier! I also added a few upgrades to the mower along with it! Attached below are affiliate links to all the material and tools I used! Thanks, I enjoyed that and your honesty. To avoid hitting the center of the wheel bearings, use a socket on the outer rim.

Smart idea! I will use that that the next time!

Nothing makes a lawn tractor steer better than adjusting front wheels so they are toe-in. The 2nd best method is to swap front tires to tri-ribs.

Hi, you have to remove the inner seal on the wheel bearing to get it grease.
@TheLifeoftheZigs
@TheLifeoftheZigs 6 дней назад
With my make and model you do not. The grease fitting is inside in between both the bearings so the grease fills all up in there.

@@TheLifeoftheZigs The bearings you installed had seals in both sides of them. Grease will fill up the cavity between them but not get into the bearings due to the inner seals being in place.

@@jacobraml3236no no no no. These are sealed not shielded bearings. Sealed bearings use rubber or plastic and are meant to keep out solid debris only. The pressure of the grease gun is more than enough to overcome the seal when pumping in new grease. Those bearings are literally designed for purposes like this. The seal will move out of the way letting in the grease. Do the experiment yourself. Take off a wheel remove the bearings, clean out all the grease in the bearings, reinstall the bearings, and then regrease. Then open up one of the seals and you will see your new grease inside of the bearing. Shielded bearings use a metal ring that completely seals everything in and out.

Just trying to show people how I did it and some data behind it as well

What you showed us at the beginning of the video....the items you called "bushings", were actually ball bearings. The wheels actually do have bushings. The wheels don't just "roll on grease".

Yes that is my fault I mixed up the terminology

You must put grease on those lower roller bearings or you will be very lucky if they last a season. BTW- they are called LINEAR ROLLER BEARINGS.
@TheLifeoftheZigs
@TheLifeoftheZigs 2 дня назад
@@research903 yes I realized I misspoke on the name of them after I posted the video. But they are enclosed bearings. However, I did grease the axel after I installed the wheel again.

@@TheLifeoftheZigs I'm not talking about the wheel bearings. I speaking about the three-part spindle bearing. The full name is "open form linear roller bearing". They need to be manually greased during assembly. Their location outside of the shaft housing prevents grease from the inside from properly reaching them.
@TheLifeoftheZigs

@research903 yes I was informed by some people not to grease them since the grease would attract more dirt and debris. But we’ll see what happens they are cheap so if they fail it’s not a huge deal.

Are you serious??? You don't know the difference between a wheel bearing and a bushing. 👎👎😒😒
