These are amazing!!! So more earth friendly than the other options that are available. A really smart inovative way to scent your car and they can be reused, how awesome is that? I love the little sachets!
so you could do the same thing with lava rocks too they also come in any col0or and are very cheap! They are porous and therefore absorb the fragrance oils very well..many use them in jewelry and car fresheners
How would you send them out in the sachets? Would you put them in a plastic ziploc bag to preserve the scent? Also can everything go into the wax melter? And do you need to add with wax melts in the wax melter? Sorry for all the questions- I’m a newbie and waiting for my first order
Hi there! Not 100% sure about the weight with the petals, you can add as much or little as you visually like. :) For the fragrance, we suggest 10-20% load. So at 20%, for 3oz of beads, so total weight is 3.75oz!
so many questions! If you package them in cellophane after mixing with fragrance, does that extend the shelflife before exposure to open air? how do you recommend packing them for customers? also how long do they last as a cold scent vs. in a wax melter?
Packaging in cellophane will help preserve the fragrance by a few months. We recommend putting them in sachet bags or boxes. Whatever your preference is! The definitely give a much stronger hot throw but the cold throw is excellent as well.
So excited to try these! Do they "leak" or "sweat" in general or in heat? Once the fragrance is added, how do they dry and not have any residue? Thanks for your videos and the new customer points!
They do not sweat! :) The ceramic absorbs the fragrance oil. We suggest using 20-25% fragrance by weight, if you add too much the beads may not be able to absorb it all. Thank you!!
We recommend scenting them shortly before sending out to preserve scent as long as possible! Another option is to sell the fragrance oil separately to customers or sell refills for them. :)
Awesome video! Great way to sell as "testers" for your candles. When figuring out your COGS on these sachet bags, how much would you charge per bag just for fragrance alone? $1?
I would price them using the weight of the beads+weight of fragrance+cost of the sachet. So a 16 oz bag of ceramic beads is $1.56/oz, and then buying a 2 oz bottle of the honey bourbon fragrance oil costs $4.48/oz, and a package of organza sachets from paper mart costs $0.11/per bag. Let us say we can fit 2oz of ceramic beads in each sachet, and we want to make five bags using the minimum fragrance load of 10%. We would use 10oz of beads+1oz of fragrance+5 bags. This would look like 4.48+(1.56x10)+(0.11x5)=20.63. That is how much it would cost to make five bags, so divide that sum by five for a quotient of 4.126. However, we are going to round to the nearest hundredth, which makes it 4.13/sachet. This is a reasonable price, but at the moment would only be covering the cost to produce the product and would not yield any profits. So we would need to mark it up however much. We can lower our cost/product by purchasing larger quantities of ingredients and making larger batches.
For just the fragrance using the same batch size here, we would divide the cost of the amount of fragrance used by the number of sachets we got out of the batch. So in this instance, we would divide 4.48 by five, for a quotient of 0.896. Round that to the nearest hundredth for $0.90cents/sachet, which you would mark up again in order to gain profit. With this method, however, you would be losing money, so I recommend using the first method over this one.
Since the beads absorb and then release the fragrance oils, coating them well must be a critical step. Would it be prudent to mix your FO with a carrier oil, at the recommended 15% to 20% levels, to better coat the beads and allow them each to absorb more fragrance oils? By the looks of the video, adding 20% FO to 3oz. of those beads wouldn't coat them all by a long shot, but adding an amount of carrier oil and loading that carrier oil at 20% FO might just allow one to disperse that FO better for release later. I'm just wondering here - thinking out loud. Has that been tested? Thanks - can't wait to try them!
We have tested them with carrier oils and found that we get the strongest fragrance throw when just using the fragrances directly with no carriers. :) You *can* add more than 20% fragrance too, you'll notice the beads have a max absorption and if you add too much they will still look wet for a bit of time. 20% is the sweet spot we have found!
After how much time would you recommend re-scenting the beads, if used as a car diffuser in a sachet? I made a small sachet and placed in my car the next day, but didn't really smell it like I expected. Used 10% FO.
I would up your fragrance percentage! 20% is great with the beads. It depends on how hot they get in your car. The hotter the environment, the stronger and faster the scent will diffuse. They typically last at least a month in the car, we have some that have been going much longer though!
Great question! Fragrances are slightly corrosive in large concentrations. We would recommend no placing directly onto surfaces you may be nervous about ruining.
You calculate them by weight! We suggest adding 10-20% fragrance oil. So if you are making 10 oz total of product, and you want 20% fragrance load: Measure 8oz beads by weight and combine with 2oz fragrance by weight. :)
It had a sell out after launch due to an unexpected demand in how popular they would be, but we have upped manufacturing and inventory so they should not sell out again. :)
Hello! You can honestly put the beads in anything you would like. We suggest the bags since the scent can linger through the fabric. If you did a bottle I would say just drill a few holes at the top and you should be good :)
