Yes! I've been streaming artwork for a while using OBS and it's such a fantastic tool for compositing live video. Also, super quick hint for anybody who might have an exceedingly large or small source element: you can right-click on the preview or the element in the list at the bottom, and under "Transform"->"Fit to Screen" (hotkey Ctrl+F) resize it to the borders of the preview window while preserving the aspect ratio. You can always tweak it afterwards, but it's a good starting point if you can't find the corner anchors at first. Also, like many other applications (e.g. Photoshop), you can lock the aspect ratio while resizing by holding down Shift while dragging the anchors with the mouse.

Thanks for creating this video. It is amazing how can software replace a whole lightboard setup...it isbalso much cheaper to do this setup than purchase a lightboard with its associates equipment (i.e. extra external lighting, mic, stand, dedicated area, etc.). I will be sharing this with my fellow educators to learn and perhaps implement...thanks again for sharing the knowledge!!!!

Thanks Brett this is great. Was actually playing around this idea. Great stuff. Love your surface videos. I have a Pro 4 but is still running well. Sometimes a little hot. I discovered that I can edit 4k video on it with PowerDirector. Thanks

I agree. My Surface Pro 7 has a very good 1080p webcam. My friends and colleagues during our video chats/meetings last year during lockdown saw me very well. It's good to have a surface pro that you can write on and that is much thinner and lighter than an HP laptop. My Surface Pro 7 also has a 10th Gen Intel Core i7 CPU and 16GB DDR4 RAM. Most HP laptops only have dual core 8th gen CPU's with only 8GB DDR3 RAM. Microsoft makes products that help us be at our best.

Speachless. I was looking the prices to buy a lightboard, and I found them super expensive. Thanks for sharing, it is amazing!

Most agreed about teaching with writing-explaining. Wish OBS would work with OneNote for Windows. Use OneNote extensively for my classes but OBS just does not capture right.

The screen aspect ratio could be a problem when using OBS virtual camera. Most video chat apps expect a 16:9 output whereas capturing the Whiteboard window on a Surface 3:2 screen results in the top and bottom being cut off. Just make sure you write in the central section.

Yes. I don't use the full window in practice...

This also works with the Pro X using a 32 bit x86 version of OBS with the virtual camera plug-in. CPU usage does go up but it still runs cooler than a Pro 7.

Any idea of how to add virtual pencil📝 to looks like your drive you back of you screen? PS: the pencil may appear(zoom in) when you actually touch the screen.

Can you please make a video on using a obs app on iPad and use a presentation slides from the same iPad as a seamless lecture

I'm not sure if this is a serious question or not...? You can't run OBS on iPad. Sure, you can use it as a streaming source for OBS on your PC... But you can't actually run stuff like OBS on an iPad. Not unexpected though since you can't even make a video call where you share your camera and screen at the same time.

Can this be done with an external webcam such as a logitech brio4k or c209?

Hi! Great video!! I present to customers an Excel spreadsheet in Zoom to illustrate my products and collaborate on an ideal solution for the client. The spreadsheet is intense and covers the whole screen. Can I use OBS on my Windows PC to write and/or annotate on the screen ? How would I do this ? Can I use my iPad Pro or do I have to get a windows based tablet ?

It looks very interesting, but a bit too complex to set up with Zoom (which is what I use), compared to what I use currently (a Samsung tablet, the most recent one, connected as an external monitor to my desktop via superdisplay which allows me to share the screen and use the pen. Hope that at some point the setup will be done automatically...

It's definitely not for the faint hearted! There are much simpler ways of getting the job done!

Good morning madam🙏how to instal OBS in iPad…?

Eh, this is ... involved. It seems like most video services including Zoom allow the presenter to share their content plus also share their video. It's not perfect - the video isn't superimposed on the presentation - but it's not a far jump to the glassboard concept. Zoom also has a new feature where you can use a PowerPoint presentation as the background for your (digitally isolated) self, and you can resize yourself and put yourself in a corner, so to speak - but this feature doesn't appear to support annotation or any kind of inking. I suppose greenscreening is fun for the intrepid, but if you just want to get it done with minimal fuss, I think the built-in solution - giving your presentation while keeping your video feed live - works just fine.

Yeah, this is not an everyday idea. It's not easy to use, and there's a lot of potential for distraction. Just the investment to learn to use OBS is enough. I used to roll my eyes at all the youtubers who talked up the Streamdeck, Capture cards, Mixing desks and OBS. Way beyond the capbilities of regular folk! But now... Here I am! That said, my Dad is in his 70s, and he followed the video and had a go it. He got it all going and he's pretty impressed with himself now 😁😀.

I think actual glass board presentations (with an actual glass sheet) are far more distracting because I can't stop thinking about how the person is writing backwards.
@oztabletpc
@oztabletpc 3 года назад
Haha. Yes, if they've set up the glass board right and flipped the camera view then they're not writing backwards. And the beauty of this setup is that it's all taken care of by software.
