Thanks Kelly, I have all of those options available and didn't know they would work as a glazing medium. You have so many useful tips, I have to "check you out" everyday.
I have used PVA builders glue for the very same effect and the builders PVA GLUE is dirt cheap for large project's. It's been a nice experience to witness how other mediums have the same effect. Thank you for showing such a handy Tip. BIG THUMBS UP 👍😷👍🏴
LOL! I've come full circle! Your video on "Making your own glazing medium" from two years ago is the first video of yours I watched. :D And I like this one just as much! Thanks, Kelly!
Huge thumbs up for this tip! I looked and looked for DIY clear mixing glazes and yours was the first I found after many attempts. The search engines kept steering me to purchase glazing mediums or blogs that are sponsored by such products. Imagine that. 😉 I’m looking forward to browsing through your videos!
This was EXTREMELY helpful!!! Thank you for this video! I was searching online for a way to glaze without buying glaze. I figured there had to be a way. I am going to be glazing my wall paint and I lost my business to the pandemic so I don't have the money available to spend on anything like this. So, I'm going to mix brown craft paint with Mod Podge! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
Well, I did it and it looks like leather! My son and his fiance are getting married in Dec. and building their cottage on our land. They liked it so much that they plan on doing the same to their walls. I LOVE thriftiness! Thank you again!
Thank you this is one of the most amazing helpful hints. No one ever explains how to make your glaze they just jump into their projects. So thankful for your help
This came at a perfect time for me. The other day at Michaels they had all of their denim things on sale for 80 percent off so I got some glazing medium for the denim look for 99 cents. It doesn't have any instructions just links it to other products in that line. I was going to play around with it but at least now I know what it basically does. Thanks.
Great video! Thanks for this. I was wondering if I could could get cells in a glaze. I would like to cover a solid area in a pour that doesn't look like it belongs with the rest of the painting.
*Fab Value Share!* 1 Question - If you need a Water Resistant Glaze? I'm guessing that would be an Oil Based line. Any recommendations? Thanks - GREAT VIDEO!
I think any video showing tips and tricks is a great Idea - go for it! I look forward to watching it. I would also like to see what you did with the face in that green paint. (I thought "face", just before you said it! Lol!)
im sorry--i thought i answered--- lol i talk to myself alot hahaha no as long as you clean your gelli plate well when u r done it should be fine--also u can use alcohol inks and gelatos on your plate!!!! have fun!!!!!
Thank you for this.. I live in Egypt where it's next to impossible for me to order things like the glaze medium.. so, this solves a huge problem for me. One question though.. do you have any idea if I mix some white glue with some acrylic paint and thin the mixture down, will it flow through an air brush, or will the glue cause problems for the air brush and get stuck inside? Thanks again :)
im glad i could help!! hmmmm the glue may get stuck if too thick--- i would try it but make sure you clean it out VERY good when done!! that will def ruin your gun!!!!!
Cool, Love your Demos Sis :) Hope your feeling Better...Is that your Moss colored Paint you where Looking for...? Off to get some work done...LOL...LYBM XOXOXOXO
I wonder how long is the open working time for each kind of product? Because glaze not only works for transparency , it also provides open working time.
Kelly, I realize this is a old video, however I was wondering what homemade glaze you would use on large walls ?something that would be safe to paint over with laytext paint in the future when you need to repaint your walls. I was wondering if water-based poly acrylic would work as a glaze?
Awesome tutorial. Thankyou. Just wondering? Can this be used as a glazing medium on furniture? I've seen many vids on glazing, but the cost of the glaze is expensive.
Hi!! Ok so let me get this right--you want a fixative to put over water soluable items to continue with another layer--I use mod podge ultra in mat-its a spray--you can use white glue all from Elmers- just add to a spray bottle with water and spray and ;let dry- then continue working on next layer--i hope this helps
HelloCaptainBlingBling yes if you brush it on. I make a mixture in a small spray bottle u can get at dollar store I use 3/4 mod podge and the rest water. Shake well and then spray and let dry and I will do it twice if I feel it needs it if I used a lot of crayons or paint underneath. I have a video on this somewhere I will have to try and remember to look tomorrow. Like I always suggest. Try this on a small sample to get the idea and how it will work for you.
They do sell a matte resin if that’s what you want to use. Also if u use a silicone mold when you take it out the inside part is matte so that could be ok for you too. Use a coupon at Michael’s and get money off so u can play Keep questions coming if u have them
Nice but u left out a lot of steps. What iwas hoping for was a lesson in creating a glaze. Using chemicals on a larger scale But i know its to advance for your video. Good luck to you and thanks anyway.
Just do not, do not, DO NOT use Gorilla Glue! (or any glue that cures with moisture) ...although it could be an interesting experiment in texture painting where the texture comes up as a total surprise as it cures LOL.
How come other people said that the kids glue doesn’t work well with acrylic !!?? Ok I’m going to try this method .. the glazing medium is a little expensive and I’m only a beginner ^ ^
I already bought 14oz of the glazing medium ^ ^ after watching many videos , and I see we can use a lot of it , so I thought to buy one just to keep and prolly will last forever for me ^ ^ , but thankyou for the video I will try it.
Have you used this on a painting? Has anyone here tried this on a painting or art piece. I ruined the one I tried. This is glue and therefor it's sticky. This is not a DIY glazing medium that I would recommend unless you want to ruin a piece. I used the elmer's washable glue. It's one thing to do a demo on a piece of paper and another thing to use it on an actual painting because when I tried it, it was not a glaze. The first coat dried within seconds and than when you put another coat it made a horrible mess and ruined my art piece plus took some paint off too!
