@@BC-np8cb you are totally a genius! See, I think that’s so cool. Those sound like amazing combos. And I love all that- and I think big earrings are so flattering
When I want to look whimsical I add an unexpected accessory or something worn in an unconventional way. I went to Michael’s and went to the floral section and there are lots of things that already come on clips (or things that could easily be hot glued onto a basic hair clip) to put in your hair. Yesterday I wore frogs! Then I find other things I have that have a similar feeling like my mushroom earrings. I also like to pattern mix and have since I was a kid. Letting go of “what goes together” is something that always sparks intrigue from others. Example, lots of people say they would have never thought certain things I wear would go together until they saw them. Of course it’s not for everyone but if you’re confident and YOU like what you’re wearing, others will notice and you will feel so good even in your own little room about the intense feeling of “play” in your outfits.
All of the images you sourced are right up my alley! I feel really seen rn. I think your advice is great; now the only thing I have holding me back from wearing stuff the way I want is, well, me.
I feel like I have to customize everything! That goes kind of hand in hand with thrifting though. I love that if I ‘mess up’ a garment, I’m not out of much. AND it’s the best way to find quality materials to work with. If the materials are cheap, a whimsical look can come off tacky very quickly. You’re spot on about texture too. Texture is everything for me!
This was very encouraging to watch. My style is naturally very whimsical, and I often feel pressured to tone it down bc the people at work/in social settings tend to dress very minimalist. However, the more I embrace being weird and whimsical, the better I feel mentally, so I’m working on embracing that.
Same. I love to accessorize and whimsy it up but I'm also scared of being perceived, so my outfits are just... blah. Here's to embracing that lovely weirdness!
Okay I don’t know if this is common sense BUT… I literally just realized that adding something black or dark brown to almost any outfit not only elevates it, but adds intrigue and whimsy and visual stakes OMG… think about it… pink tank top? Add a black bra strap showing, now you’re a cool girl. Summer dress? Add black eyeliner, now you’re a cool girl. Green print top? Add brown trousers now you’re in a Gucci add. Lacy blouse? Add a brown ribbon belt now you’re in a Miu Miu ad haha
Totally!! I love throwing edgier/darker pieces with softer/lighter things, mixing styles always looks cool and helps everything feel more balanced too!! 😊
I sometimes do this but in reverse. For example adding neon or bright colors to neutral muted outfit: brown/beige w/hot pink earrings, army green/drab clothes with neon green hoop, navy blue with big turquoise dangly earrings. It's a good formula for me at least.
I loved your vision boards! I took a few screenshots of them. Lovely sense of texture and theme. I found this very encouraging, and reminded me to be less boring in terms of dress. Thank you.
Great video! I like to start by imagining what character I'm trying to inhabit while getting dressed, and the outfit evolves organically from there. Like you could channel Alice in Wonderland or a Rancher in the Southwest or a Cottagecore "Little Women" character etc.
I’ll be thirty soon. Something happened when I was young that caused me to miss out on being a child. I’m healing her though. I’m simultaneously learning to be a woman and a child alongside each other. Bringing play into the mix is so healing. Something so cute that I’ve been doing lately is using necklaces, bracelets and earrings to decorate my cowboy boots! I’ll string the jewelry through the little loops on the sides, double up pearl necklaces and wear them like ankle bracelets over the boots. So fun!
I can totally relate, sending you love and positivity 🫶🏻💕 but that’s so cute and clever, I might have to copy you! Lol I wear my cowboy boots so much and have never thought to dress them up. Love that idea!! 😊✨
