*Very easy to set up and use, attractive but be sure you understand the height--it's not tall. The heat is not overwhelming, but steady and pleasant fireplace **fireplace.homes** . It's quiet, too. I like the possibility of easily moving it from room to room in the event we want supplemental heat elsewhere. Definitely a good buy.*
How about leaning some art beside it. To me it’s too much mirror ( top and bottom of the fireplace). But now I know how to do antique mirror effect, thank you.
I think it looks great although I would add in 1 more element in front of the antiqued mirror...either a plant, a couple pillar candles or small framed piece of art?
Could you do a video on how to layer pictures and paintings on the floor? Please! I find that effortless look so chic, but I have looked and not found a video on the subject. I love the mirror 😍😍
Thanks for showing us how to get this antique mirror effect! I think it looks wonderful! I would prefer a black or dark brown frame around it. For winter, when the heater is exposed, you can paint it all black. I just did that with my old radiator heater. I used specific primer and paint. If you want, I can let you know how the paint holds up when the heat comes back on. I would then paint the entire firebox inside black. It would be a nice look for winter.
I didn’t even know this type of spray paint existed! It is the perfect solution. And I really like the way it came out. When I lived in LA, I rented a little cottage with a similar heater in the fireplace set up. I went with the fireplace screen and I can attest to the fact that it’s not a perfect solution. It did help, but it was a struggle getting one that would not let the heater be too visible, and not be too dense at the same time. The whole room looks fabulous and congratulations on all the great thrifting!
Great solution I love it. It looks very chic and elegant!! I would try this in my home because I like the technique and it is a great to hide things we don't want people to see all the time. Your place is shaping up so nicely. I love the mirror you found for the fireplace mantel as well. 😊😁😀
Baiyina, your solution is so original and flawlessly executed. Your apartment has so much elegance and style, and it just keeps getting better with each additional element.
Looks great. Also painting the hearth white was the thing to do. Maybe an off-centered basket with a throw or pillows and a plant (or two-looks like you have great light in that room).
I think it is just the ticket. Great solution!! You may disagree but perhaps a tallish plant stand presenting a trailing plant would look nice on the hearth to the left of the heater.
That’s gorgeous! I tried to do something similar with my open shelving (now that I spend all day at home and have to look at everything), but got lazy about it LOL
It looks great! My worry would be that you need to secure it in some way so it doesn't accidentally topple over (somebody kicks it, or the dog sniffs behind it). Do you have a pot or an urn that you can place in front of one of the corners like a door stop?
Karla here. I have to say not only does your mirror look fantastic but so do you! Pretty fancy outfit for spray painting. When I spray paint I end up spray painting myself as well! So impressed by your skill. Love your content thank you!
I love your solution for your fireplace. When I first saw it in your new apartment, I knew you were going to come up with something great and you did. I have a hideous fireplace it’s non-functioning, you have give me hope that mine doesn’t have to be the “ugly duckling” anymore thanks. I enjoy your channel
So genius and creative!!! I love both the fireplace cover idea and mantle mirror! Both are exactly the solutions I need for my rental situation. Thanks for another great video and design tips!
I definitely understand you wanting to cover the tacky heater up, but I am so glad you are keeping it. There may be a few really cold days in winter when you are glad you have it.
Agreed. A Genius solution. That space heater really is so hideous. Your DIY looks very high-end! Although we're in the 'dog days of summer' at present--maybe plant a seed in the back of your mind of how you'd like to do the area in the upcoming months when you'll be needing to use the heater....I find this type of 'pre-season' thought process somehow brings fabulous finds my way, always via the local thrift store, and ALWAYS an upgrade on what I'd been imagining. :) :) :)
I love that mirror effect and I'm going to try it. For the summer months I would probably mimic the effect of the heater by placing a smaller squarish lantern in front of the mirror and use a tealight which would also reflect back.
When you moved in I thought you said it could be taken out when not in use. Was that wrong or did you just not want to deal with the hassle of removing it? The mirror is beautiful though.
How nice your fireplace covering turned out! I bet some nice large Luminara flameless block candles in various sizes would be nice in front of the painted glass ... Maybe even putting the candles in lanterns ...? Thanks for your continual inspiration... ☄☄
It worked out so well. I am thinking of all the funky ways you can deco that fireplace just w/diff color paint! Also I think I saw a glass elephant toosh on your kitchen counter. It reminded me of this age long mini-battle w/my mum where she would turn all my elephants to face away & I would get so irritated bc I didn't know what it meant!
Looks great. Great idea. I would do the exact thing but a larger piece maybe 5 inches bigger on sides and top and bottom. Just a bigger Frame so when you look from the sides the whole wouldn’t show. The fireplace can take a bigger size framed antique look mirror. You always come up with great ideas. Keep up the good work 👏👏👏👏👏
Everything is really lovely, and you have gone above and beyond in making it outstanding. I was just wondering (today) how to do the antique mirror look without all the muriatic acid of a real mirror and the toxins associated with it. Your white sheers and natural hardwood floors are divine together
Love your style Baiyina! And this solution is great...in line with your style! Thanks for showing us. I think I may use this in a spot that needs something elegant
This is a brilliant solution! It solves a problem that I thought I would just have to live with...a totally ugly fireplace. (I mean my fireplace is still ugly but this will make it a lot less noticable.)
I really like the contrast black on the fireplace floor instead of the white. Also, I think the white frame makes it look a little boaring. Sorry, Baiyina, just my honest opinion girly. otherwise a good idea to cover the heater
Love the antique mirror over heater but one on mantle not so much..should be way more ornate or curvy or a beautiful piece of art work..2 mirrors like that don’t do anything for area..just my opinion
