Hey Dan, how do you know if someone is loyal when you are interviewing them ?
@ResourceTalks
@ResourceTalks 6 лет назад
Becoming a better leader starts with you becoming a better person for yourself and the people that are the closest to you. The word says it itself. The word is "leader". You lead people, that means people follow you. For someone to start following you, you need to prove them that you are good for them, good for their future, and as long as you're not a good person that has those people's best interest in mind nobody will follow you, so becoming a leader will also be impossible. So, if you really want to become a good leader start with your inner you.

Very true. Some of our leaders believe micromanaging is the only way but it causes and negative work environment.
@rpylamp8960
@rpylamp8960 6 лет назад
True it start with the leader but if the employee has bad character, it is pointless. There are some who are genuinely disloyal and dishonest and there in the company just looking for ways to make quick money whatever it takes. So pick and choose also important. Great leader doesnt mean absolute loyalty and honesty from everyone.

Dan said it perfectly. Leadership is not something you are born with or something which once you learned, you'll have it for your entire life. It's a never-ending, hard, frustrating but super rewarding process. Excellent video, Dan!

It is amazing to go back to these videos from 1-2-3 years ago and see how the core values and the team & company have evolved. Even today, after going back through materials from Inner Circle that I had gone through back in December, I realized that with each step of evolution and growth, going back to core-values and the basics can mean the world of a difference moving forward. I do not see it as a step back, I see it as strong reminder and reinforcing the belief and purpose that started the while journey. And now I get to do it with a "Danflix for Skill" mug of green tea next to me. Thank you Sifu Dan.

One of your newest subscriber to your amazing channel. You spoke the truth Dan. The real truth! Being a leader in any organization, any career is always the hardest thing to do. Being a Team Leader myself, yes I made mistakes too but I am also grateful for my superiors and colleagues who believe in me. And also mentor me as well. And among the 3 qualities you spoke of, I truly feel Loyalty is the hardest to come along. I know a few of them who worked with me day in and day out are truly loyal to me and it leads me to think about what you have said before in your previous video on any given day you will want to work with the best team to work on an average idea, because that's the fucking team at the end of the day who will achieve the greatest results together and for you as well. And to have that team, you need to have Patriots! Thank you Mentor Dan ! Will definitely be looking forward to your videos and yes of course more of Leadership kinds of lessons as well from you too. Thank you.

Very well said, people are complicated. I agree with what you said about this. I've seen for many years how managers micro manage people in companies. One of the reasons i believe is because they don't have enough billable hours to put in and want to seem like they are doing some work so they go and micro manage other employees who know how to do their jobs and don't have any problems or issues about it. The thing is as companies get bigger it takes a good leader to see who is worth keeping and who is no longer needed to be part of the crew. Also, I've seen too first hand how people were told that certain people are great to give presentations or other specific areas of jobs required but because of upper management ego they don't let them do it. The sad thing is there have been many jobs with clients lost because of that. I wish more people would watch your video and even watch it a few times and take to heart the great advice that you give. Keep up the great work.

When we hire people, we look on three things: intelligence, energy and morality(including loyalty). And when you do have the first two but you lack the last one, you don’t want those first two either. That is what Warren Buffett said and does in Berkshire and that is what I do in my company.

I just recently got promoted to a manager in my city. I'm only 19 years old, so my experience is very limited, but I was able to get my position and move up so quickly because of my work ethic, ability to produce results, and I learned from the right people within my organization. In order to keep moving up I know I will need to focus on perfecting my management and leadership skills, so more videos like this would be EXTREMELY helpful for me! Hello Mr. Lok. I LOVE your videos and I think you have a lot of useful advise to give. Please don’t take this personally. This video is the very reason why SO many people think and strive to be entrepreneurs. Living ones life and being judged by someone else’s opinion of you is NOT a very lucrative or intelligent thing to do. It is best for your business and I get that. But, I think I would rather be the one making those types of decisions about a persons character than being subjected to it and betting my livelihood or future on it.

So it's not about how to manage your employee, but it's about how to chose employee who can manage themselves and find their place in your organization?
@matthewcote5198
@matthewcote5198 6 лет назад
Partly. Creating a system for how you want your business to work first will allow you to recognize the type of employee you will need to run that business. And then you can plug them into what role will suit them best; most times if you hire right or shift people around, they will do the work naturally. A good leader always recognizes the strength of each team member and uses them accordingly. This has been my experience anyway and it's been working for me so far!
