The mafia offer is something I can't seem to grasp. I've tried dozens of offers, said dozens of ways. I have even tried your free mockup idea for my own web business. Maybe it's because I cold call as the primary source of business. You can literally offer people cash and they'd hang up.

Hi Dustin, I've been able to use the 'free mockup offer' successfully with cold email traffic (I've never had the guts to cold call people). Though it's really better as a lead conversion mechanism once people have already made it to your website.

@@VictorThomas I love cold calling. But "offers" don't work well on the phone in my experience. The only thing that works is basically being a consultant and offering to have a conversation about solving one or more of their problems in business. I'm always surprised that the main selling point of websites in my experience is NOT the customer acquisition / lead generation angle. I feel like the thing that speaks most to prospects is how websites can save them time and hassle. There are a lot of companies that spend hours per day answering questions that a website easily could. Think about the opportunity cost. Not to mention that these days websites are more complex and require updates, maintenance, and security monitoring. The days of the shade tree website mechanic are over. I should turn this comment into a blog post and throw it in as ad copy. Do you ever do ads for your own web business?
