The problem with streaming services requiring -13/14 LUFS is that, over time, listening to the music becomes like a long drone and nothing stands out by being quieter or louder. I think it means that new musicians need to work harder to make their tunes musically distinct.

It’s a battle for Lufs! Another thing I’ve noticed is the portable speaker systems like the Bose Soundlink, or the Jam Box compress and turn up the quieter sections of my tracks. So even if I make a dynamic mix, the speakers turn it up anyway! It’s definitely getting harder and harder to be dynamic.

@@StephenLearsonIt's the same old battle, dynamic range vs loudness. Tunes have always been compressed and limited on TV broadcasts and FM radio/DAB, but previously it wasn't required on the master recording. That's where the streaming services differ.

The RU-vid audio library for example is quite toxic, Idk wtf is going on with them but the music on there is too loud and distorted to hell and many seem to be composed by a deaf person who doesn't even know what music is....
