This is my favourite memory channel on RU-vid. I'm teaching my 4yr old son this system. So far he has used this system to memorize 10 random items, in any order. And be able to recall them weeks later. Keep these awesome videos coming :)
I wasn't sure about this tactic at first, to be honest, but it really did work! I was able to memorize all of my lines (Shakespeare's Macbeth, "Is This A Dagger" Speech, about 30 lines long) in about 2 and 1/2 hours. Thank you so much!

I'm learning a programming language and there are many useful commands that I simply need to know to work efficiently. Each command has a description and syntax which I need to memorise. The syntax and command has to be in-ambiguous, hence I find difficulty memorising it with loci. Any tips?
I sort of did this, except I used my stuffed animal collection to remember each line, to memorize a Shakespearean monologue. I lost it, though, when I found myself telling a stuffed elf, that he is "a thousand times a properer man, than she a woman" (As you Like It, Act 3,Scene 5). But at least I will never forget that line😂

Thanks for this video. I had a 5 minute stand up set to memorise and last week messed up so bad i gave up after 2 minutes. Very embarrassing. I then looked up memory techniques, found this video and followed it. Today I memorised AND performed the full thing without notes. I won't pretend I was flawless, it's still nerve racking and only my 7th gig but near 95% recall with just a few hours work. So try it out, and give it an honest try, took me an hour of real concentration or to learn the best ways/images that suited me. The more i did it the quicker i became.
I just thought everyone memorized things like this lol.... about a month ago i had to memorize a script for theater and present w a partner to the class and i would use the celos, the posters, and people’s shoes to help me remember
I'm a mail carrier, so I mentally numbered all the stops on my route. There are 548 of them and after being on the same route for two years, I can visualize all of them. I see each one five days per week and that makes it easy to remember. I suppose if I wanted to go up to a thousand, I could walk the streets in my neighborhood, look at each home, and number them starting with 549. But really, the first fifty stops are enough to remember anything that I would want to.

Trying to memorize a rap song. 600 words in 3minutes, in Russian. I often do body movements as brain trigger. For example the lyrics: rucksack on the shoulder (tip the shoulder), pain in the heart (tip heart) etc. helps a lot

i just learned that i got one of the main roles in the play we're doing. i searched more about the play, and i have alot of lines and songs to sing. our play is in less than one month, so this helps!

I am going to be one of 4 or 5 speakers in my school's team in a bublic speaking event. The event is after exactly one month, we will write the speech, do the presentation, and memorize in that time. Last time I did public speaking I was a minor speaker and I forgot most of my lines. Any tips on how to prepare and say everything smoothly and volubly. Thanks
Um, I'm a thespian, and, I've been acting for five years. I'm on my 10th play/musical. The way I memorize my lines is I read them over, and, over again. I implant them in my brain, and, I bring my script *everywhere*
In Shakespeare's time they often had just a few hours to learn a ton of text. The also kept the "roles" of the line in their custumes in case they had to look. That's why we get a "role" when we are cast in a play.
Does this method work for long passages. During Masonic ritual we sometimes have to recite verbatim, long passages, sometimes several large paragraphs .
This also works for songs. There are more and more songs that are very poetic, meanings they have a ton of words. I want to praise God, however giving God my best means I get extra help because without the Mind Palace I’d never learn the songs and give God excellence; using what I have, where I am.
Hi Ron, you are a very great teacher! One thing though, if I use my house to memorize a play and the next week I want to memorize the Periodic Table but my house is full what then? This has always stopped me from pursuing this idea. Thanks !
i’m scrooge at my stage school so i need to learn the last page really quick, my technique is to right it down, turn over and try and remember as much as possible then add in the details and correct my mistakes

Question: how would you memorize 100's of strings of Algorithms for cubing like these: R', D', F, B, L', L, F, y, x, z, M, r2', f2', b2', R, F, x, y, all in different sequences. ?
There would probably have been someone next to the stage with a "prompt book" of the play to remind actors of their lines - a common practice today and certainly done at the time. Good-quality pirated editions of plays by Shakespeare and others may have been the result of the prompt book being sold or loaned to someone to print the play without permission. Poorer quality pirate editions, like the Bad Quarto of Hamlet, may have been the result of someone attending a play several times and perhaps taking notes and then using this to produce an inferior version of it. In some cases actors in the play might have helped prepare the pirated version - sometimes a giveaway of this is that the parts the actor himself played are better remembered than the parts played by other actors.

@@winter9741 Luckily he recovered before the show. While it would have been an awesome opportunity to shine, it would have been extremely difficult and stressful to attempt to memorize the entire role in just a week, so I'm grateful for the outcome
When I took a shakespeare acting class the concept of imaging. A bit of the same of what is mentioned here. Just knowing what you're talking about in the dialogue that you have mental images going through your head
