this 1997 C230 had issues with the dome lights not coming on when the doors were opened and the courtesy lights not working with the remote...the drivers door switch was found to be faulty follow me on twitter / fupabox
thank you very much for this, my window regulator on my 99T C240 broke and since replacing it i noticed my interior lights stopped coming on when the door was open, the car locked itself remotely but didn't flash 3 times, flashed once upon unlock as per usual and also i was unable to lock the doors from the button on the dash, this issue had me searching problems elsewhere, only until i saw this video did all these problems vanish, such an easy fix! :)
This is a great video I didn't have any problems following the instructions. I have been working on this for months changing fuses tracing wires etc. Now it works great , the switch was just loose. :>)

I not able to just able to pop it out. I guess the part fell down. Any tips on how to get it out? I took of that black strip, but there is not enough of room to see i or take it out ..
Does this also affect the key fob's locking ability? The door switch broke off on the driver door and when I lock the doors with the key fob, it locks every other door but the driver door.. So I was wondering if the computer isn't locking that one because it thinks it's still open (because of the door switch broken).
My 2007 c230 is giving me the door ajar signal on my dash. However, all of my doors are closed! Is this a door switch repair issue?? I don't have any other signals coming on.
it sounds like it is the door switch..likely the door switch...open all the doors and press each little plunger switch with your finger and make sure they all spring out
Nicholette Moore when you open the doors one at a time the lights inside should go out when you press the little plunger switch in.. if you find one that is sticky , or doesn't shut off the interior lights when pushed, that is the bad one
