@fupabox I will have to look into either getting the right led bulbs, as you said, or some other trickery to make them work :) If I find anything out (other than getting the "proper" bulbs), I'll post. Thank you for your help!
@fupabox lol i dunno what a festoon nor does the definition make sense in this way! ill try that for sure and see what i can do! I got about 30 bulbs to change out at some point. 25 that i would like to do for sure. they are the white 1157 i think. single pole white.
Hi, I've put white dials in mine and white heater dials that fun to do, I had to cut the out I have also taken the wood trim back (sanded down) looks great, not plastic and lighter. My next job is to recover the dash in Alcantara. I will send you some photo's when it looks a bit better I'm just sorting out the rust. Full- time job hahaha. Rgds Derick.
I was wondering whether the bulbs in the taillights can also be replaced with LED bulbs because some of them seem to have compatible mounting. You even have 4 very similar to those in your box (visible at 0:17)? If these are the same voltage as stock, would I be able to just swap them in? The glass of the taillights is colored so color shouldn't be a problem even if they are white LEDs. Thanks.
Yea just the map light. But now nothing works. Even when i put the stock bulbs back in, nothing works. Fuses arent blown either. My car is at the shop getting the head gasket done right now. When i get it back ill be sure to try and un hook the battery and putting it back on to see if it resets. If it doesnt work, whats another route i should take?
i have recently done this on my w202. after attempting to replace the reading light with a replacement LED it caused the LED to blow. since then my normal dome lights (2 front & 1 rear) come on as normal but they are VERY dim. on top of that the lights will only switch in when the key isnt turned in the ignition. any ideas on what it could be?
@fupabox Thanks a lot! I purchased today 2 lamps for the taillights and put one lamp in. Of course it was immediately complaining about a busted bulb. I guessed it uses resistance. Can u please tell me more specifically what I have to pull in order to stop it complaining? Did you mean a fuse? On mine the dash beeps and shows a message the bulb is busted so I guess literally pulling a dash bulb is not an option... it's an 1998 W210 E240
Mine blew out also when i put in my map light. I checked the fuse, and nothing is blown, i put my stock bulbs back in, and nothing works. Any suggestions? Are you on any forums?

Hi, first of all, your videos are amazing and thank you for them! I have a question, I bought a w202 a month ago, the interior lights needed to be changed because only the reading light worked. Now I have changed all of them, but the rear interior and the trunk light won't work with the new bulbs... Do you know where should I look to fix this? thanks
Hello Fupabox, firstly I want to thank you for all w202 videos. Its awesome, I followed all vids from You and successfully switched interior to LED (I have older w202 from 93 and its sometimes quite different - no problem). So when interior is complete, I was wondering which LEDs choose to backlights, please do you know which ones ? There is really big number of lights on eBay, 1156, 1157, 9led,12led. Is there any way to communicate with you by email or other personal messages ? Thanks !
Hey again fupabox. I now have an issue with the black spring-powered (little) cylinder under the doorlock. When this is pressed in, my electric windows and the sunroof wont work. However, when its released/when the door is open - it works like a charm.. What is this? Where is the connection? I cant find it :(
Having a hard time finding one of your old videos. What size are the bulbs on the doors on the w210? And size of the bulbs that light the gauge cluster for the rpm Speedo etc?
So.. I tried to replace the map light/reading light on the passenger side thats a T10 (or W5W standard), but it accidentally fell out of the bulb holder, and into the whole light thing. Now, as the insert for the bulb is pretty darn narrow (its not even funny how tight it is up there), its not easy for me to get out as it is. You done the same mistake, or got any bright ideas on how to get it out again?
+Braut The Gaut under the lenses for the 2 lights on the overhead console you will see 2 metal tabs to the rear of the console..pop those tabs with a small screwdriver and remove the whole assembly
Just did this... The festoons work great but when I turned on the t10 it made a whinning sound for a moment then smelled burnt. Tried another and similar result. Other T10s from same batch work fine in cluster. Whys it shorting?
duh I figured it out, the LED had contacts on both sides which didn't matter because the cluster socket was "split" but the reading lights socket wasn't. Snipped the LEDs leads where they wrap around and all is well
Hey question for ya. I know it's not related to this vid. But any idea on how to trouble shoot cruise control? Mine just stopped working . 96 c220. Could it be related to me installing xenon bulbs ? Cheers
+nanaimoclipper Usually it's caused by the brake light switch, which has 2 function/circuits inside.. 1 for brake lights and ABS and 1 for dis engaging cruise when the brake pedal is pressed
I need help! I switched the reading light and it didn't work but the other two lights started to shine when they weren't supposed to. I can't get the reading light to shine. Can anyone help me? Sorry for bad English :)
