Omg you are amazing! the only video that has been of use, clear, FREE ( No third parties needed) and that actually worked and clearly explained everything even when things didnt work and tried other ways. I have literally done everything from watching a bunch of videos online, google, I called my phone providers, called Apple, Called Samsung, even contacted Whatsapp and none of them knew! Even the explanation on whatsapp 's website isnt too clear ( e.g. it says to install Google Migrate tool... where is that ?). Anyway very happy so thanks again! Defo subscribing :) ( BTW I transferred from my Iphone 8 to the New Samsung Fold 4 using the USBC- to Apple cable- I recommended making sure apps and system are updated and make sure both phones are fully charged)

Thank you so much. I tried to transfer WhatsApp to my Samsung with SmartSwitch app and right where it says " You can now disconnect the cable " on the Samsung I did and later it didn't work! So I am going to trust iPhone this time and won't disconnect the cable until the end and will update here. Thanks again :)

Well, finally! This time around I don't know why but iPhone didn't warn me to not disconnect the cord! What I did different this time around though, was to factory reset my Samsung and updated my iPhone to the latest iOS and also didn't disconnect the cord until the end of the operation. That was a success. I thought that factory reset of the Samsung was only a good measure to take but it seemed that it was absolutely necessary. Anyway, thanks again for your very good tutorial. It helped me a lot .

This actually worked, thanks!! Is it the same process if you were to transfer the Whatsapp history back to the iPhone except you would select on the SmartSwitch 'Sent to' iPhone?

Great to show how these devices are full of bells & whistles, but there's so many steps involved and misleading cues that they almost never work unless you troubleshoot like you did.

I kind of understood the trick to this. You have to let the Smart Switch complete updating before login to whatsapp for the backup to kick in. If you kind of started wehatsapp before the smart switch completes , it won't recognise the transfer. so you have to like clear the cache and files then sign it out first by switching back to the old phone. Then re-sign in again on the new phone for the whatsapp transfer to happen.

Hi, don’t suppose you could help. I am leaving iPhone XR to Samsung S21 ultra. I have literally followed the direction step by step yet it still won’t send my WhatsApp over. I have completed through setting the phone up via smart switch - doesn’t send my messages over. I’ve deleted what’sapp from new phone and stated again. I’ve set new phone up and tried to transfer the messages manually through what’sapp - doesn’t work. I never get given a QR code to scan on my iPhone but I don’t know why. My software and app is the newest one as advised by WhatsApp. I have no idea what I am doing wrong!!!

thx for your help... quick and relevant question.. the transfer process is a one off unique opp or can be done everytime u plug into the iphone? i do have a battery issue with my iphone so.. not sure if battery can handle the whole process so..i'd love to know if i can do, as an example... first APPS, the music, the contacts.. one at a time to make sure it does not turn off and cancels the process at mid point...thx!!

You can do it by parts, but remember that the iPhone will charge using the Android battery when both devices are connected

In the iphone, when i click on Start, it starts preparing and says getting chats ready but after a specific percentage, it stops and comes out of that screen and apparently, i have to re-trigger the whole process again. Any idea, what could be the bug here?

I got that too.. app closing at 38% then I’ve to re-trigger the whole process only for it to repeat. So what I did was to clean up my WhatsApp: leave and delete group chats, delete chats with pple I’m no longer in contact with. Had no issues after.

Thank you, what a horrible horrible experience this was to get done. The interface is so bad. For those with a lot of data, you have to wait many minutes after you can disconnect the usb cable for your android to unpack the data. Only then start whatsapp.

Great video! So, I'm trying to transfer my whatsapp data from an iPhone 11 Pro to a Galaxy Fold 3. When I'm setting up the fold, a screen prompts me to open whatsapp through the QR code and open the chats. Then, on the iPhone it says that it is "preparing the chats" and the progress bar starts moving up. However, when it reaches 20% it crashes! I have done it multiple times and it always crashes, so I cannot seem to transfer my Whatsapp data. Currently the SIM is on the iphone, while the Galaxy fold has no SIM, think this makes a difference?

I wished I watched your video before trying the transfer :( I downloaded whatsapp on my new Samsung before prompting Samsung Switch. The whatsapp transfer didn't work, it didn't ask to import and it kept asking for permission to access Google Drive for a back-up and the chats didn't transfer. Will it work if I delete whatsapp on my Samsung and try again? I also want to ask if your SIM card needs to be in Samsung? Really appreciate it if you could help!

Yes you can delete WhatsApp on Android and try it again, you don’t need to move the sim card but you do need to input the code that whatsapp will send you, Hope it works for you thank you

You need a number, but you can keep your SIM card on the iPhone no problem.

will this work with a older version of IOS? i have IOS 13 but have the latest whatsapp (able to open whatsapp) is that a reason why i cant transfer my whatsapp chat to my flip3

iOS is not an issue, just make sure you have this WhatsApp iOS version 2.21.160.17 or greater, Samsung SmartSwitch app version 3.7.22.1 or greater and Data Restore Tool Version 1.0.390604033

@@SuAmigoAlex i tried doing this.. Except for the whatsapp chats everything got Transfered.. It didn't show any QR code. That part was skipped when I tried. Now please make a video to transfer chats to another number. Using that cable. 🙏

Please tell me what you did differently. It's still not working for me :( I log into whatsapp and it has none of my chat history, though it still had my contacts. I never get the Importing Chat History screen on my samsung flip.

Make sure the sim card is the same one, maybe is your Google account?

My Flip 3 battery dies during the process of this every time (its about 8GB of data in total). The Flip charges my iPhone while it’s transferring so the battery drains so fast - and there’s no way to get around it. Such a frustrating, badly designed experience!!

let sim card stay on your old phone till the end. And wait your phone to organize whats app back ups after you transfered data. Don't remove cable till the end, u dont have to reset your phone just uninstall whatsapp and try again. Did 4 times and last time i managed to see import chat history.

I wud suggest you look into process as follows : Reset samsung phone Update Android to latest Update data restore tool from play store Update whastapp on iphone Do not install whatsapp on samsung Go to iphone connect it via USB port c charging cable from iphone to samsung. That time choose smart switch and check only apps and then select only whatsapp then you will get the QR code and follow accordingly

Update: I found i installed data transfer tool instead of data restore tool. Uninstalled the transfer tool to update restore tool and it worked. QR code option shown and worked. But no option to import chats on samsung device after transfer process

@@zainjahangir1863 Thank you dude! The data restore tool tip was the thing I needed!! It worked 100% fine thanks to that. Iphone 8 to Samsung 9+. Sim in the Samsung just before activating Whatsapp in the Samsung, received verification code, and select import chats. Neither Whatsapp nor Samsung indicate that we need to update this specific app. How are we supposed to know?! What were they thinking?? (avgn)

@@SuAmigoAlex I don't get an error, but Whatsapp doesn't show up. (With internet or the cabels) I am able to get all the inherent data, but whatsapp isn't even showing up to transfer the data :(
