This type of mount has been known to break (over tightening the extension, etc.) so I'd also suggest applying a stick-on tether mount and tether connected to the seat rail for added security.

I took the easier and cheaper way to fix the issue. Used the strap on my bag along with a Garmin mount. Just loop a Garmin band underneath and connect both sides. Used an adhesive furniture pad along with Velcro on the opposite end to hold it in place more securely. Saw this idea on another video. Works great.

Salut from Canada! This worked like a charm. Thanks for summarizing all the information and providing the amazon links here. I ended up using an even longer extension. Time will tell if the mount holds up, but fits like a charm so far and I added a tether string just in case.

The extension is a nice idea. I have been using mine directly on the saddle rails, so there is no room to turn the unit on; the power button is too snug with the saddle underside. I have been dreading the inevitable "drop" of this expensive unit, with so much on/off.

Hi Charles. I have the varia (without the light, RVR 315) and as I am pairing it with an AfterShokz bone conduction headphone to get the sound of alerts when cars are coming : it is just PERFECT combo. do not need to disturb my cycling friends with alerts neither need to stare at my Bryton cycling computer. What do you think?

Je pense comprendre malgré que je ne parle pas anglais… Je crois comprendre qu’en plus d’acheter le petit adaptateur sur amazon (facile à trouver puisque le nom du produit est clairement montré dans la vidéo!), il faudrait acheter une autre petite pièce qui s’emboîte dans la première (un genre de bras d’extension) mais quelle est cette pièce? Est-ce possible d’avoir une capture d’écran pour savoir quoi acheter exactement et à quel endroit? Merci beaucoup pour la vidéo!

It just doesn't look good having this big bulky light on the middle of the seatpost, behind the saddle bag makes it looks cleaner for just a few more grams

bonne suggestion charles , je me suis poser le question comment mettre mon garmin varia mieux placer que de l avoir sur le poteau du selle, j aime beaucoup mon varia , le seul ajoute j ai fait est de avoir un petite miroir a gauche ronde de 1 5/8 dia, un petite extra to be safe , le seul hic est le varia a pas de cord de security pour le garder en place si jamais il est frapper et tombe malgre si ca tombe tu aurais peu de radar mais ca prendrais possiblement du temps a appercevoir qu il est plus la , et comme toujours essai de le retrouver , mon garmin1000 a un lacette,, m excuse pour le grammar.

Let's be clear. Radar is not an impenetrable force field. If a car is going to hit you, it will hit you, whether you have radar, sonar, lidar, or no-dar. I don't know about you, but I would not call this a "safety" device... some might even argue it's an unnecessary distraction. It's an awareness device. All of the dangers out on the road are still present and they still pose the same risks.
