Wanting to helmet mount your GoPro but unsure how to go about it? In this video I walk through the steps required to mount any model GoPro to your road cycling helmet using a 3M adhesive base plate and a mounting post.
This is a fairly simple process, but a small mishap could cause your GoPro to go tumbling down the street at 40mph so it's always good to do it right the first time.
In order to install the adhesive base plate for your GoPro Mount you first need to determine whether the flat or curved base plate is right for your application.
For a road bike helmet you'll want to use the curved base plate most likely. Once you decide, then prep the area with some sort of cleaner and dry the area thoroughly.
After thoroughly drying the area remove the adhesive backing on the base plate (do not re-use a base plate after removal).
Find the spot you'd like to stick your GoPro on the helmet and press the base plate firmly in that location making sure it's straight and rolling it on one end at a time to ensure no air bubbles are trapped in the adhesive.
After holding for a couple of minutes, allow the base plate to sit on the helmet newly applied for about 24 hours before riding with a camera mounted.
Use an included GoPro mount that clips into the adhesive base plate and mount the camera up as you would with any other GoPro mounting mechanism.
Enjoy the ride and share your footage! I'd love to see what you guys are out there filming.
Thanks for watching!
