Hey man THANKS for this vid A FARRRR better vid than others on here (like 2min vids) PLUS, I live in a country where they do NOT speak English (or are limited), so asking more tech questions is a hassle.

Great video! I bought a Burton process with cartel bindings in 2019 to replace my old custom board and bindings that failed me in Les Arc (Frankensteined with donar parts and cable ties before all the craziness started - off to the Alps this year in March. Thanks for your video 👍🏼

Thanks this was a much clearer explanation than other videos I watched. I just bought a 2024 Skeleton Key with channel set up. I have 2019 Ride bindings. The baseplate looks like it matches with the channel but I’m not sure if the current silver screws are too long or too short. If my Ride binding did originally come with the black screws then I lost them ages ago. Do you know how long the correct screws should be? My current screws are approx. 13mm long. I have some other screws lying around that are 17mm long (probably too long). Almost wondering whether to bite the bullet and shell out for some EST bindings. Thanks for your help.

Yeah, I just measured the black screws from the ride bindings and the threads are about 10-11mm long. If you don't have the right length it shouldn't be too hard to find some but it can never hurt to have new bindings 😛 Personally I only ride Burton boards with the EST bindings because they ride/feel so good. Check out the EST vs ReFlex video for that info -> ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kKHB2rGNM90.html EST BINDINGS: www.peterglenn.com/search/apachesolr_search/est

Thanks mate. It’s the end of our season here in New Zealand so I’ll have a think about new bindings and grab the proper screws as well. Cheers

can you mount non burton kids bindings to the burton chopper kids snowboard? my son is going to outgrow the grim bindings and was curious if i could use union bindings on a new chopper but the kids boards still use the old burton system.

As long as the bindings have a 3D compatible disc.

@@32srt32 The Union Cadet an Cadet Mini come with a universal disc and you can get a 3D compatible disc for the Cadet Pro if need be. -> www.peterglenn.com/category/snowboard/snowboard%20bindings?filters=im_vid_3:465+im_vid_6:1389

I’m getting into snowboarding and thinking bout getting a channel board but one thing I’m thinking of is has anyone ever been riding and a screw slightly loosens and the binding slides?
@PeterGlennSports
@PeterGlennSports 5 месяцев назад
As long as you tighten everything down properly your binding will stay put no matter what. Burton has been using the channel system in their boards for over 15 years now so it's definitely stood the tests of time!

my buddy has some older m3 4x4 bindings, can he still mount them on the channel system or does he have to find a different disc?
@PeterGlennSports
@PeterGlennSports 5 месяцев назад
He cannot unfortunately. Those were from before the channel was even a thing so he is not going to be able to find the appropriate discs. He's going to need newer bindings.

So I have some Burton custom Brew Bindings from like 2010 and just got the new process Flying V with the channel. Am I able to put my old bindings on the channel? Is there some adapter disc I can get?
@PeterGlennSports
@PeterGlennSports 6 месяцев назад
Possibly, but it is going to be REAL hard to find the non-ReFlex discs that fit the channel. They do exist but the best bet is to check a local Burton dealer that has been selling Burton for a while. Or maybe even contacting Burton direct.

Thanks so much for the help and advice bro! I’ll check it out at my local REI but prob just drop a grand on some step ons, ugh!
@PeterGlennSports
@PeterGlennSports 6 месяцев назад
@@kab1682 In all honesty I doubt REI is going to have them. It's something that more of a brick and motar style snowboard shop will have in their collection of old parts. It would better to just contact Burton for that if you don't have a local shop. And If you end up grabbing some StepOns, e=we got you 😉 www.peterglenn.com/search/apachesolr_search/step%20on

Quick question, hypothetically if I dont have those shorter screws and have been using the regular screws for my free thinker, is there going to be future problems?
@PeterGlennSports
@PeterGlennSports 5 месяцев назад
I would find the proper length screws as soon as possible

@@PeterGlennSports What could happen? Because they have worked perfectly fine for the past 5 days ive snowboarded
@PeterGlennSports
@PeterGlennSports 5 месяцев назад
@@huntertanner325 They can loosen up much easier and ultimately damage the board, bindings, or even yourself if the bindings end up moving when they are not supposed to. Plus not using the proper hardware could potentially void warranties.

Do I need those pads on the side of the channels?
@PeterGlennSports
@PeterGlennSports 3 месяца назад
You do not, those are part of that specific board. It has a thinner core but sturdier fiberglass for a softer feel that has extra spring and pop for park riding. The pads are there because the channel can’t be made thinner and they help level the binding and smooth out the turns a bit. But again, they are part of the board itself and not needed on any other board 👍
@eviledward
@eviledward 13 дней назад
@@PeterGlennSports This is the first explanation I've found regarding the pads on certain Burton boards, thanks for scratching my curiosity. Have you guys looked into the Burton Channel Surfer, wonder if they use the pads on that board as well for the same reasons mentioned above?
@PeterGlennSports
@PeterGlennSports 11 дней назад
@@eviledward Yes the Channel Surfer does have them for the same reason. Burton wanted a pow board that not only floated like crazy but also was torsionally easy to ride and very smooth feeling as well.

2 screws are Not as Strong as 4. A a disc with 8 Holes is weaker than one with 4. So… Are Now Skate Tech bindings compatible with the Channel?
@PeterGlennSports
@PeterGlennSports 5 месяцев назад
It’s more about the pull strength of the inserts than the screws. And the inserts are plenty strong o the channel with just 2. And yes, while it is true that a disk with eight holes will technically be weaker than a disc with four holes, the disks are so strong in general that it doesn’t matter. As long as you have the appropriate channel compatible discs that Now/Jones makes you can mount them on a channel board no problem.
