Great video. Only one exactly like it ive seen so far. But if you do this on a regular basis wear gloves as that threadlocker causes cancer.

Thank you, I have installed perfectly on my 99’ LX470 as the lock actuators gave out and oem costed way much more than these universal ones. Could you do a tutorial on how to install a universal PKE system on the car? I purchased a PKE system online and everything seems fine installation wise. Only thing im worried about is the steering wheel lock as it’s replacing the key ignition with a push button for the remote start. Cheers!

Hey man, question... Can this actuator be installed as a trunk releaser for an aftermarket car alarm? 🤔 I'm wondering if it will be strong enough to pull the latch 👀

It can in some applications, I did it here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-u9-h8ZQvDtg.html

excellent video on this!! you did an awesome job, and well explained. just a tip: you shouldn't use tin snips to cut steel rod. they're for sheet metal only. this is the 2nd video where i've seen this.🙂

Mini bolt cutters are better. But the metal is so soft and I've used this cheap tool just for this application for over 10 years. I don't cut actual sheet metal ever.

I own a 2005 Civic vp coupe. I mounted one on passenger side, no problems whatsoever, works perfectly. I wired the driver door exactly the same way and actuator works, it goes up & down with my key fob, I have the rod going into lock that you manually push down like passenger side, it's exactly the same but does not lock or unlock door. I have new door lock cable installed & it's exactly same setup as passenger side & everything is hooked up correctly but it won't lock or unlock. I can hear it trying but doesn't work. Any ideas why? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's probably binding. Does it move super easy and smooth manually?

Wonderful vedio, I have a question, if we have access to cut the brass rod you had cut using a wire cutter, will we be able to open the lock of the car manually in case of a car fire because the signal from the logi board comes in a moment even if you try opening the lock manually and after the wires to the actuator melt, the actuator is stuck in the lock position and doesn't permit you to jump out of the car by manually trying to open. This is a concern for years and not all can be able to jump out of the window. Can we have some access to it by cutting the door metal which you drilled and a small window in the door pad , so that we will be able to access that brassen rod with a cutter. Will cutting the rod connecting the actuator end enable us to open the lock/ latch and thereby the door because it's the jammed actuator in the car fire that doest permit you to open the latch once the wires from the logic board to the actuator melt.The problem is not in the actuator it's how the logic board is programmed.It doesn't work back or forth once it's connection is severed by the flames.

Yes you can still unlock manually. Only scenario is if the gears stripped and got jammed. Low chance of that happening.

can you tell me what is the difference between an actuator with 5 wire and actuator with 2 wires?
@AnthonyJ350
@AnthonyJ350 2 года назад
The one with 5 wires probably has relays built in.
@Nga_kinley

Where to connect that 2 wire? I seen connecting to lock and unlock wire but I doubt how actuator work

You have to install a central locking system under driver side under steering wheel. It's easy, amazon has keykess entry systems that are quite easy to install.

@@AnthonyJ350 Wow. Honestly, I thought they stopped even producing vehicles with manual windows. They were very common growing up but then like around 2000 or so they seemed to totally disappear in the States at least.

Cringe!!!!!! TIN snips should never be used to cut wire rod; it can damage the shears (Use side/bolt cutters). A friend of mine's dad has a heating and cooling shop and it is a fireable offense if you are caught using tin snips to cut wire or rod. Tools help us do our work; buy good quality tools, treat them nice and you will have them forever. I have tools that were my great grandfathers than I am passing on to my grandson.

I have mini bolt cutters now. But if you buy a $20 tool just to do one purpose and lasts you 10+ years doing the job I don't see why not. The tool has paid for itself. And if it has lifetime warranty hard to argue. If I cut sheet metal with it as well, I will get poor results after.
