Thank You!! That worked like a charm and now we FINALLY can move apps to USB and install more apps on TV. NOTE: For those of you who only get internal storage after following all the directions, be sure to go to the Apps and force stop and try again. That allows both internal and external storage options to then be available under Info. That is what we had to do and now we are all set. Thanks again!!!
My Hisense U6G had the same memory issues.. low memory notice and stuttering/buffering when streaming. I added 8gb usb memory and went through this procedure. FIXED! all apps run smooth now. Thanks!
Luis.....bro you are the man. I finally had to search "how do i store on usb" and your video was the only thing available. Great job walking my dumbass through it. Many thanks.
4:40 March 11 2024 THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. I took care of my problem with no frustration. I also did not have to yell at you through my tv TO GET ON WITH IT. You explained what you needed without a bunch blah, blah nonsense. Thank you Terri
Thank you so much for this video!! This was a tremendous help (I have a newer tv so some of the options were under different menus but after I navigated through the options, I was able to move some of my apps over. Tks again!!
Thank you for the video bro. This shit had me bananas!! The only thing is that after doing the developer options I had to go back and format the USB drive so that the TV sees it as it's storage and then move the apps like you said. Just FYI if anyone else has this problem. Thanks again.
Thanks! this was helpful. How do I update an app that is on the usb drive? When I update it still says there is not enough storage on internal device and doesn't show the external as an option.
Nice Vid, you said you couldn’t find any info, any android usb tv box video will provide more info. Don’t buy a stick bigger than 128G and my set has 2 usbs. Found that one is power only or is defective. The other works with usb. I’m going to try to put a usb hub on the tv to see if it will allow for expansion ie more accessories.
I have a Hisense 8G that won't function due to storage issues even after apps have been deleted. An external USB was added, yet it keeps showing that the tv is successfully removing the USB. I haven't had success getting to the different options you show and wondering if you have any suggestions. You are the first to show actual help. I appreciate you and look forward to hearing any suggestion you may have. P.S. All streaming apps except 4 have been removed and still says full storage.
Just tried again and instead of the USB messaging you show mine shows Removable Storage: THKAILAR (the USB brand, I guess) w/ THKAILAR is safely ejected underneath. What year/version of Hisense TV are you showing on and what brand USB are you using (or does it really not matter)? Wondering if there's other issues with my tv besides storage......
I have an older model TV, so maybe that's a factor, but maybe it's an option that's missing. Try going into developer mode and in the dev options there's a "force apps onto usb". Usb brand shouldn't matter. It's also possible the newer models of TV don't allow for external memory but it's unlikely the case. Sometimes the process messes with the TV in a way that you'd need to factory reset to solve issues to. I had to do that to mine because it started lagging on me. Try formatting usb, then going into developer mode, and enable force apps onto usb option. Let me know how it goes.
I will give it a try. My newest issue is that once I've clicked Format it does its thing and then I'm unable to get the tv to respond to the remote which causes a physical unplugging and replugging of the tv.....only to go through the processes again w/ same result.....I'm beginning to think my approx 3 yr old tv has more issues.....especially when I remember that within the first 30 days of owning it wouldn't work and warranty sent a tech out who replaced a board in it.....we've pretty much decided to never buy Hisense again.... @@LSJ-sb129
Thank you so much for this. Everything is working great on my Hisense TV except apps on USB drive will not work unless I unplug my tv then when I turn it back on everything is fine, just a little Annoying I wonder if there's something I can do?
Any particular flash drive? I tried using an older Lexar I had and at the end it says the drive is corrupt, format to fix. 2 separate Lexars, same result.
I’m thinking you should factory reset your tv and try the process again. It took me some trial and error to get it to work properly. Any flash drive should work. I hope this helps.
@LSJ-sb129 thx for the reply. I had already purchased a new drive when I asked this question. Initially had the same issue but got the order right and now it's good to go!! Thank you for the simple, easy-to-follow, but extremely helpful video tutorial! Cheers 🍻
Thank you! I followed all the directions but in the last step when I click and hold on one app, and choose the internal storage, it doesn’t show the external storage. Now I cleared up my internal storage and whenever I try to install anything it says “not enough external storage”. What seems to be the issue?
You might need to reset your TV. All of these steps can cause lags or glitches because of developer mode actions. Resetting should fix things when you try the steps again. Let me know how it goes
I have a 16gb drive installed. It's formatted, developer mode enabled, force apps on external selected (tried USB debugging as well), but when I try to transfer apps, it tells me not enough storage...?
It may be that you might need to factory reset your TV and do the process again. I had to do that when it didn't work the first few times for me. BEFORE YOU FACTORY RESET, try turning your TV off, disconnect the USB, unplug power cable from TV for 5 minutes, then power on, connect USB, try moving apps. This is what I can think of doing before you factory reset. Hope this helps
Depends. I had to factory reset once to get it right. Trial and error lol. If slow I recommend factory reset, unless you have important info on your TV.
All worked good....right up until I try to move the app. How do I bring up the option to move? If I click on the app all I get is the app opens..there is no menu like on your video. Also..if I load new apps they do not give me the option to store on USB drive. Thank you so much for the tutorial.
First, make sure the usb is formatted, then I'd check to see if you enabled developer mode. Developer mode gives you the option to force apps onto USB so maybe that could be the root of your issue. Try it and let me know
Unplug TV for 1-2 mins, then format external device and see if that works. If it doesn't, then go to developer mode and turn on the "force apps onto external device" option. If all fails, factory reset TV, then try the steps from video again. It might take a few times to get it right. Hope this helps.
Great video but I followed all the steps until the end of the video where I have to move to external and all it gives me the option is internal drive. Not sure what's happening
Are you in developer mode? If not then go into dev mode & click the option to force apps onto external devices. The option should be near the last of the options in dev mode. Format the storage device to make sure it's compatible with your TV. Let me know if this helped. 😁👍
I enabled the developer option and then went to the apps but it won't let me move them still. When I click on storage used it doesn't go anywhere. Any ideas?
If it's a large external drive that requires a connection to be turned on, then the apps won't work. If it's a smaller one, then yes, if it dies, the apps won't work and downloading them again will make your TV laggy/buggy. Happened to me. If TV doesn't work then factory reset.
If the TV didn't have the app pre-installed, then you might have to use a streaming stick like a roku. You can't install play store if it's not already there. Sorry. Hope this helps
