Awesome video. I see myself as a perfect target group for that video as I'm a ...mid-mid developer? I know stuff and can deliver, but also there's so much to be learned. A question in my head is - when do you know your knowledge and experience is enough? What came out from that video is "be that person" - in that sense...you don't need a title to be a senior.
It was actually very good interview, I completely agree with all part of it :) maybe this interview is missing one thing, that there also can be a team leader or a tech leader, this could be a role with senior tech skills and at the same time a people person, and also there can be a senior coder. So it depends, and the video was talking mainly about the leader kind of senior
Great point - this is very much dealing with the more leading person, but even so, just if you're highly technical you're going to be spending a lot of time in meetings and helping people, just simply because your expertise is highly desired and you're an important cog.
I wanna suggest the next video being from senior to Tech Lead and/or where to go from there (architect maybe?) and how to land there successfully. I haven't seen the full video but will add it to my watch later list. Senior -> architect | senior-> tech lead Great video topic tho.
It's pretty cool, yes! There are a lot of juniors on this channel that are good enough for their first position, but unlike developer jobs in general, those can be a bit hard to find without assistance. All companies need developers, but the ones that can support mentoring a junior in a good way are much fewer, so it's really good that services like Seen exist.
@@funfunfunction yes that's true for sure. Not a lot of businesses are willing to expend scarce resources on mentoring newer devs (which is v.short sighted on their part). Me, i have this opportunity and its complicated to describe but the only thing that i can share about this is, let junior = (preparation, confidence) => senior;
Why do you define 'Senior ' as a 'role' ? As far as I know It is a job title. A Junior developer and a Senior developer could do the same thing in two different companies ,from that idea it a title not a role.
What part of the video are you referring to? It's a long video and it's hard to answer this question without knowing the context - could you perhaps provide a time code?
Approaching a senior has some luck factor in it. Depends on what mood you catch them in. Some even are reserved towards sharing knowledge, when you show enthusiasm to learn and grow. (from personal experience). I am junior, but ended up the last person on the team and then mentored 11 new for months. Does that make me half senior? lul
They are currently limited for *employers* in the us, canada and uk but you can apply for any job that you are interested in relocating to in those countries. Sorry if this does not cover your case.
