Really appreciate you making this video. I've been watching and researching so much about moving to Vietnam and the living situations, but haven't found full answers on how to stay for more than a year with the visa thing. You've provided the most information out of anyone I've watched, thank you!

Love to hear that and glad I can provide value for you on the matter. Good luck with your traveling if you decide to make the trip!

Planning to retire to Vietnam, helps that I have a Vietnamese wife of 14 years(!) with current Vietnamese citizenship. One thing too many people talking about Vietnam re: expat and living abroad.. don't mention enough is just how friendly and 'decent', for lack of a better word, Vietnamese people are. I have never felt as safe in any country, and I've been in many, as I do when I'm in Vietnam. Just subscribed, thanks for the great tips and advice.

Thank you for subscribing and supporting my channel! I completely agree. They safety here is on another level compared to where I am from in the USA. There is just a different type of energy. People aren't looking to do anything with bad intentions. Even in the most run down areas in the slums of Ho Chi Minh I felt very safe. Cheers.

I use Mint Mobile on my esim phone. I can receive all my banking and secure 2fa texts overseas. It costs me $15 per month for a 1 year plan.

That's a steal. Thanks for the input.

Agreed, hope this doesn't change now that Mint was sold toT Mobile, been with Mint myself since the start and also pay that $15 a month.

Moving to Vietnam is an excellent, life-changing choice. It's very affordable and it's easy to stay there for 3+ months. A low risk choice in terms of cost with lots of upside.

This might be a simply question but coming from australia i assume the power socket will be different, is it fairly easy to pick one up from there or at the airport?
@tylerowenfit
@tylerowenfit 6 месяцев назад
This is a great question and something I didn't even think about before moving here. 90% of the outlets here in the main cities are automatically converted to the USA outlets, but I am not sure about Australia. If Australian outlets are different then the USA ones then I would recommend picking one up before you get here. You will still be able to get one delivered to wherever you are at if you don't bring one from home though.

@@tylerowenfit thanks. just trying to cover all bases as I haven't been out of the country before lol. kind of want to do a test run if it's viable to make money outside of Australia, maybe give it a 6 month run of it. I do a fair bit of trading and some of the sites I use I can only access from Australia so would be awesome if you did like a video on the rules of using a VPN in Vietnam to access your home countries accounts. if you are familiar with such things.

What kind of trades exactly? Day trading with specific stocks? And that's funny you bring that up I was just looking at vpns the other day because I can't access the website for my car insurance back in the states. I am not familiar at all with vpn's but I may be getting a subscription to one here soon. I would rather be legit instead of using a free one. If this happens I will definitely do a vlog for you on that. @@ProRoulettePlayer

@@tylerowenfit awesome a vlog on that would be great i think. I do a fair bit of day trading with crypto but will be doing a few swing trades coming up to the btc halving lol. judging by your other videos it seems very doable to make money there from what i make here in australia, the only thing is the VPN access. i was looking into ExpressVPN which seems to be the best vpn but don't want to commit to it without further confirmation if it works and if i can access my wallets outside of Australia.

Do you have to have a return ticket to get your visa? If you do and you are unsure if you are going to try to extend your stay over 90 days, I assume you should get a refundable ticket. Finally, do you need proof of vaccinations?

I am not renewing my e visa. Currently the rules are If you want to renew your e visa in Vietnam you must leave the country first and apply for renewal. This will take a few days for you to receive the renewal than you can come back into Vietnam. As for the second question you currently do no need proof of those. The rules are subject to change at any time, so make sure you keep that in mind.

What if you want to stay longterm? Do you have to keep doing visa runs over and over?
@tylerowenfit
@tylerowenfit Месяц назад
Yes. Every 3 months. Unless you get employed full time with a legitimate company in Vietnam. Then you will get a residents card in that case. Either visa run every three months or get a full time position. Most people do this by teaching English. Full time is about half of the hours in Vietnam as it is here in America.

Cool stuff. I loved vietnam when I lived there in 2017. Planned on riding a motorcycle from Saigon to Ho chi but ended up working in quy Nhon as a English teacher. Was incredible experience. I noticed you have some fitness stuff which I think is relevant. Being in good shape is always a good idea, especially if you get sick. Had the worst food poisoning from a Ban mi sandwich I’ve ever had. Full blown hurricanes coming out both ends. If you go to quy Nhon check out bai xep and the big tree hostel. Also look up Ben the Australian over at phong nha farmstay. Have fun and stay safe 😎

So if your visa is expiring what can you do to stay
@tylerowenfit
@tylerowenfit 4 месяца назад
You will need to make a visa run. There are a few different wys you can do this. The easiest way to to cross the border into Cambodia then apply for as extention to your visa then wait the few days it takes to renew. Then you can stay for anoher 3 months on a tourist visa. This is the case for USA citizens. I am not aware of the situations for other nationalities.
