About TIME SOMEONE ACTUALLY MOWED THEIR LAWN IN REAL TIME. Whenever the camera is in fast motion I couldn’t figure out which lane to cut twice. Now I see and understand what to do Now. It’s On Domination!! Do you ever Mow with a Bag catcher?
That dark stripe near the end.... No no no no no!! Is exactly what I cried when I caughtcha slippin. I never thought I could be so emotionally attached to somebody else's stripes. Well done sir.
I'm glad to see I'm not the only one. I have always mowed with Simplicity or mowers with free floating deck that ride on rollers. They cut beautiful And leave great stripes. When you said before the 100 dollar view your right. Them light And dark stripes drove my neighbors nuts. They couldent figure out how I did it. I mow A specific way every time to make the perfect stripes, I sometimes wish I could mow normal to save time but A great looking lawn is addicting.
Sir, I have to tell you, thank you million time .... my yard looks like the beauty queen of the neighborhood... I did the stripes and it's great... thank you so much for teaching me this technique.... now I have to say this, I had to buy good brands and high quality machinery and all was Husqvarna and I am pleases with their performance and the tricks you thought me here in these videos... please keep these simple technique coming as it made a world of difference in my lawn.... again, thank you a million..... if I can have your email address so I can send you a pic of my lawn and how it looks now .... thank you Sammy
Start in middle and work your way toward gives you same look in less time. Every pass will be a cut with no going over lines twice. I did the same thing on my lawn for 15 years. Looks good.
Hey buddy!! New Subscriber!! This is my 6th season in Landscaping. I must say brother..Who needs a zero turn mower when you have a guy like yourself that makes a lawn of that size look soo fresh with just a average size mower!! Very Clean cut! Nice work man!
awesome nice perfectly stripes tells about how much experience someone has in the mowing industry and maintaining a healthy lawn and those beautiful stripes tell me that mr alynn is a master certified in lawn care good job!! i enjoy eachone of your videos i am a commercial certified pesticide applicator and certified arborist (isa)
I made my own home made striper with a heavy duty pipe with rocks in them, but on my mower I don't have the flap thing at the back to tie it down to, so I got zip ties and found holes on the lower part of the metal bar, the thing is that the homemade pipe thing won't stay down, when I mow it jumps up and down the whole way.
love using your program my lawn looks great. ive always used a drop spreader and recently bought a earthway broadcast spreader do you have a video on using a broadcast spreader for smaller areas?
For lawn striping, you should also point out, that it really depends on the size of the yard as well... if it's a really small yard, single striping would probably look the best while larger yards look better with wider stripes.
Just one question about this. I did the double fat lines and it looks great so thanks for the help (new homeowner here). I did the perimeter first but what do you do when you get to the house in regards to turning around I seem to be having difficulty with that. Other than that I am dominating my neighbors!
how heavy should my home made srtipper be and how tall should the grass be? i have made a diy lawn strpper . it seemed to work ok but could be better. love the vids thanks
Thanks! I try to keep the overlap around 3" or less. But if I notice that one of my stripes is crooked, sometimes I have to take a deeper overlap to try and correct it.
I planted Zoysia Toro Grass in Houston. After planting we had flood and heavy rains. The grass grew about 1 foot. It is nice and green. I went to cut with my Torro flex 21 reel mower and the test area didn't cut evenly. Any advice on how to take it down to a lower height with the Torro flex 21 or another method?
The Lawn Care Nut Yea lol.I stripe mine and my neighbor mow to the dirt, literally to the dirt! It would make you cringe. You can see it in one of my vids
The Lawn Care Nut The one that says"mowed today"as the title. My lawn would be so much better if i actually treated it.I dont seed or anything, just cut it.I want to just never do lol.
I think I told you this before but with the size of my lawn there is no way I am going to waste time going over cut grass twice. It takes me at least 2hrs 30mins if I am fast to cut the whole yard. I do stripes but I space out an uncut line. So if you have a full stripe and your are going back with a new one you just leave a section of uncut grass starting your second line down. Maybe I will film it and show you. For your lawn size double cutting does not take much time. You may want to do a video on adjusting the rpms of your mower. My honda is really lagging in the rpms right now. Next cut I plan on speeding it up so it cuts better. Your lawn looks great and the stripes are amazing. Keep making the videos I really enjoy watching them.
do you have a larger lawn mower to begin with? If I had a lawn the size of yours I would have a 36 or 42" mowing deck, and in that case you would not need the double fat stripes. The only advantage to going back over the stripes is I can correct any errors (things out of line) and also define the stripes much better. But that's just my preference there :). As far as adjusting RMSs on mowers, I am not super mechanical that way. I'm an old fertilizing guy, never really worked on the machinery much unless it was a pump.
Tip that I learned to keep a ton of grass off the sidewalk is mow the sidewalk and street section separate. I make two double fat lines down the sidewalk. Then on the inside section I make a two double fat line down the sidewalk as well. This makes a border for my inside stripes which keeps a ton of grass from falling on the sidewalk. You won't have to blow any grass unless you edge this way. The stripes on the inside are enough space for your mower to turn for each stripe keeping all the clippings in the yard and off the cement.
It's mostly for saving the time of blowing grass off the sidewalk. I'm going organic using your system next year. I am tired of these bags of fertilizer with rocks in them. It never fails to get stuck in my spreader so the stuff just keeps dumping out on the grass causing a burn spot. It happened to me last week and the hopper was full so I just had to keep moving fast until I could see the rock to remove it.
myriadcorp if you drag that lawn roller on the back directly down the sidewalk, it'll be green for a week...we blow everything off when were done, that keep the nice deep edging all clean too.
hey bud i notice on the dark green stripes when you go over the first pass, it maintains that dark green color. But when you do the first pass on the lighter, shorter cut stripe the first pass is already lighter than the first pass of the dark stripe!! are you lowering the blade for the light stripe any more? that effect is mind boggling me
I wish you would get a drone and shoot some pictures from above for your stripes and for your neighborhood. A guy name Ryan Knoor has posted some on youtube #39 that look awesome. His yard is diamond stripped and his yard POPS in his neighborhood shots. I think yours would do the same.
It's too bad my front yard is in a big U shape and is on a hill..=( I basically have to mow in a U shape because having to mow up my hill kills me, but great video! Maybe in the future when I get my own house I'll remember to use these tips, thanks!
Just curious... Why do you not use a bag to catch the clippings? What's the benefit? I always thought if I mowed w/o it, that the clippings would burn my lawn.
hello..great looking lawn. I too have a similar looking lawn. Never thought about doubling back. Great tip. Quick question. How often do you mulch vs. bag. I try to mulch as much as possible as well. Thanks
Hey Mike, I try to mulch everytime so the clippings get recycled as nutrients in to the lawn. Only time I would bag is if I have a disease issue or if I have to suck up leaves or other junk. = AL
+The Lawn Care Nut i have new sod from last year dosent look like its taking this year older grass in back looks a lil patchy some grass areas looks taller than others what can i do...please and thanks in advance
I TRIED IT THE DOUBLE STRIPES WAY LIKE YOU SAID LOOKS AMAZING, I HAVE HOMEMADE STRIPER, BUT THE STRIPES AREN'T SO DEEP LIKE YOURS ? DOES IT TAKE TIME FOR THE GRASS TO BEND THAT WAY ?
glad it's working! The deeper look in the stripes come from the fact that I mow my lawn at 4 inches tall. I have tall fescue so it looks good at a taller cut.
I cut mine at the high possible setting on the mower also. Whatever it still looks better than the others, guess everyone has their own lawn competition in the neighbourhood.
Is it worth buying the toro lawn striping system or making one, I know it would be cheaper to make one, could you maybe make a video on the toro lawn striping system then your homemade one to show which one works better. If not its ok I understand.
I think they both work about the same as far as results. The difference is that with my home made solution, you can't back up! With the Toro Lawn Striper, you can. Big difference there. Here is my review of the Toro striper: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7jwtLYi9diI.html
And I did watch your video a while back where you tie that black thing to the mower to help better form the lines, but if I didn't do that would the lines not form at all or would they just not be as defined as the ones in this video? Thanks!
you need something to "press" the grass into different directions. If you don't have something wide and heavy (couple pounds) then the only thing actually "pressing" the grass are the wheels of the mower. Make sense? As far as the shape of your lawn and hills, that can be tough, but you can also use that to your advantage and make things look even better. Stripes going up a hill look REALLY good.
The Lawn Care Nut Yes I will, I did just mow my lawn today though, so it will be another 2 weeks before I cut it, but I will make sure to send you a before and after picture
its suburban hard work i know.. i do it all day every day and lawn striping is HUGE deal for me. its why people hire ME. because when they get home they go holy crap!.
Is it bad that I mow my yard every 3 days in the summer? I seem to get the best stripes when I do it this mostly because the grass is greener if I cut every three days. When I cut every 7 days, the grass seems to turn a tan color which I guess is because I am removing more that 1/3 of the grass.
I have a large yard and I use a 54" Simplicity riding mower. I was wondering how low do you cut your grass to look like this? One of the reasons I purchased this mower was to do stripping, but I can't get it to work. I cut one direction then the other direction next to it, because I'm doing a 54" cut
so what type of grass is that? i want my yard to look like this. i just bought a house here in tx and the lawn is in rough shape. the base grass is mostly bermuda, but it has some wide blade grass and lots of weeds mixed in... trying to figure out what i need to do ahhh! lol
+blanton meadows thus lawn is tall fescue. A cooler season grass that won't survive in texas. Bermuda is a wonderful turfgrass. I have quite a few recent vids on it.
I can't be the first person to comment about this, but instead of going over the same cut grass row a 2nd time why not just estimate 20 inches in your head and continue moving in the same direction across the lawn. In other words, you don't need to backtrack and cut the same row of grass a 2nd time unless you want the stripes slightly more prominent. Best reason yet, the time, energy, money, and gas saved would be cut by almost half with no backtracking.
question. how in the hell do i getvmy grass to look that healthy? i have a good bunch of grab grass and mix of thin and thick. what do i do?? ur clearly a God in this department i envy your lawn :'(
Iv read that it's better for fertilizing...if you feed your lawn, when you cut the grass, your clippings still hold nutrients, so by leaving the clippings on the lawn, your are simply re-feeding your lawn
The Lawn Care Nut hi Allyn, thanks for the analysis, and yes it fits right in where I thought. Men with young families with first homes and older guys with more time on their hands. Interesting . Loving you work mate, just waiting for the temp here to reach 15c so I can thrower down !
I’m a 21 yr old female watching this LOL. My dad is too lazy when it comes to mowing the lawn so I’m watching videos so I can learn how to do it myself.
The Lawn Care Nut do you have any videos showing your toro?? i want to buy one like yours but want to make sure its the same one. oh ya and by the way. Luv your vids and great looking lawn you got!!
nice video man, not hating, but I'm just wondering why a percentage of people think bright stripes look good/professional? It seems the opposite to me honestly and I know we both think the other is in the minority here. Full respect from me tho.
Larry Ogden sure thing you big preacher. just watch the vid on how to make a lawn striper, or the other on the TOro Lawn Striping system. then you should me all set my man
