I must say same as others have said but after few hours of researching online and still watching more for clarity this guy covered it all the videos I watched and their content and even more within 20mins. Love the concept of sharing name on bad line test. The name should have a "ring" to it along with the ease of saying it and being normal/memorable/clever.

What would you do, if the company name isn't taken, but the domain name is? Should I still go for the ideal company name and get the domain later?

Thankyou, this was awesome. You are an amazing speaker. The Onelook thesaurus you made me aware of is one of the most useful tools for finding possible naming word I have come across

I literally watched ours upon hours of videos before arriving here. This past few days have seen me almost giving up on finding a satisfying name. One time I even fell asleep while searching for a good company name but merely 17 minutes into this video and I'm done. I've gotten a brilliant name with a .com extension. But the price is mad high! What do you expect? I'm going to watch till the end though. Great video. Thanks a lot for this.

There is a BIG difference between a Squatter and an Investor! A squatter is someone who register a bunch of domains related to an existing TM. An investor is someone that invest in the future.

Thank you for this advice from 2014. Would love to get your thoughts on the following names I'm considering for my startup (It's an ISP and AI services startup) - WeAt, WebV, etastic, LegacySpace, aiTurnKey, aiSolutionsx, aiLocus, aiComputerSolutions, MemoryMimic, and LevelUpAI. Like you, I've collected several dot coms over the past 20 years and the above domain names closely match my startup's services. Some of these are in use by my platforms and networks while others are parked. Any suggestions about which of these names I should pick for my startup's name?

Great video, one question though. Would expressing an emotional attachment a domain name ("I really love the name gadling") allow the squatter to raise the price of it?

i tried to stay quiet but as soon as he started speaking i just couldn't stay quiet, i don't like those who wanna make things complicated when he say that giving your business a name is terribly hard! no it's not terribly hard, getting a frigging investor for ur start-up business is terribly hard, persuading a snobbish asshole to give you a chance to prove to him that it's going to make a huge success is terribly hard, writing a detailed 40+ pages business plan with solid info is terribly hard, building all the financial statements & projections template then fill it with proper figures that add up is terribly hard........... choosing a business name is the easiest part among all of this and it barely took me an hour or less to figure it out and i came up with amazing name so there's no need to try and make it complicated.. i mean prove me wrong , what the heck Adidas means!? imagine that you're an english speaking person who lived under ground all his life and when we brought him up! we said to him (Nike) what would he understand?! stop talking crap man i hate it when those guys thinks that they're smarter than everyone else and start coming up with conclusions so that when hear them we say (wow he's a genius!) no he's not! and if Nike called itself (SportsMan) rather or (GetHealthy!) rather i'm sure it would have achieved the same success, so no! a name is just a name, make it easy to pronounce / easy to remember/ cool logo/wise slogan that's what a business name need to be and it's is NOT terribly difficult.
