Appreciate the tip! Don't know if you saw my post on euc crash group or not but I got real bad deceleration wobbles about two weeks ago with no gear. Hit the ground going about 30mph in a t-shirt and shorts. New full moto gear arrived from Amazon yesterday! Lesson learned lol

Solid advice my dude, especially on the very subtle weight transfer. I used to ride stiff legged even into turn and nothing is scarier than a speed wobble in a turn. Now I am constantly shifting weight.... not even really visible to the eye but can be felt in the feet and legs, makes all the difference.
@joeeverton7019
@joeeverton7019 2 года назад
Really well put. Carving is intentional, controlled wobble. The snowboarding comparison is spot on. One other benefit I've noticed... it reduces fatigue as well. When I ride straight (usually because of where I'm riding, or traffic conditions.) I get really tired feet after not much time. Carving cures that.
@LemonySnicket-EUC
@LemonySnicket-EUC 2 года назад
I have found that I don't have to really "carve" to keep total control. For me it's more of a slight shift right and left making gentle arcs as I ride briskly. 🤙

Also it's interesting how different things work for different people. I was getting wobbles when slowing down as fast as I can. A lot of people talk about lowering your center of gravity. Didn't work for me. What works for me is standing up straight and tall and keeping my back very straight and that almost completely eliminated speed wobbles when hard braking.
@andrewwalsh2755
@andrewwalsh2755 29 дней назад
Same for me... stand straight... keep lower legs in full contact with EUC... Just become an extension of the EUC and sway to control it... If there's no gap between leg and EUC, there's no space for wheel wobble, which isn't instantly controlled by your legs...
@rcgldr
@rcgldr 2 года назад
One exception to always carving is when riding over bumpy surfaces. If a wheel encounters dips or bumps while turning, the lateral force at the contact patch will oscillate as the wheel partially bounces up and down, which can trigger a wobble.
@rcgldr
@rcgldr 2 года назад
@@greenwave819 - consider the extreme case of a a wheel bouncing while turning. When in the air, there is no lateral force, and in the middle of impact, a lot of lateral force, and the lateral force will cycle with the bouncing. Even a partial bounce will affect the lateral load due to contact patch flexing.

I can agree on the snowboard flat, I think it is good comparison. But riding EUC is defenately more like skiing than snowboarding :P Thank you for the video.
@derrickhunter7680
@derrickhunter7680 2 года назад
I get what he's saying tho. Having constant contact with a controlling portion of your device is keeping control 99% of the time. It's kinda like when you ride a bike, and you always make balance adjustments. If you were to let go of the handlebars, you need speed and weight shift input to control the bike. Ya don't just let it fly away with your ass and crash! Lol

Its the same with skiing. Advanced skiers are always on one edge, carving, and linking their turns edge to edge. Thats how you never cross your skiis. Your weight is always on one ski, on one edge.

putting a lowering kit on my lynx as i write this. The lynx is fast but it will get the gnarliest wobbles. You gotta over exaggerate every movement and get very low on the lynx to make it not wobble. Hope you get well soon. ill update if the lowering kit helps. Cheers!

I imagine manufacturers could implement something in the firmware that could sense a speed wobble and be able to self correct by making slight corrections upon it happening. This would be a game changer. I don’t see why they can’t look into this and make it happen.

With snowboarding it’s also sketchy yo ride straight when the mt been used a lot in a day because the groves where people are carving will catch on your board and most likely make a beginner fall, that’s why when I start d learning I kept my feet at an angle where I can ride switch and I love it! Do a search for how to ride EUC videos, and watch those. The recommendation for some of those is to learn to ride (and dismount) using support to mount and launch, before attempting free mount (no support). If you already know how to ride an EUC, then you can just push an EUC forwards and step on to free mount. The how to ride videos don't go much into detail about how to turn. At slow speed, you can extend your arms outwards and arm flail to twist the wheel to steer it for balance and direction, flail left to steer right and vice versa. This is taught for pedaled unicycles, and I've seen it shown in EUC videos, but not taught. At sufficient speed, an EUC will become stable and self-balancing within reason, enough that a beginner can ride in a straight line without having to focus on balance. My V8F becomes stable at 6 to 8 mph. Once at stable speed, you can learn to tilt steer (inner foot down, outer foot up). At first just tilt small amounts to see how the wheel responds. Next try doing small side to side weave patterns. Then try doing large radius turns. How much you lean your body versus how much you tilt the wheel depends on speed and turning radius. For slow speed tight turns, you barely lean, but tilt the wheel a lot. For higher speed turns, you generally lean (or hang off) more than you tilt.

@user-ke9yk5qp3u

Keep your knees and your hips slightly bent and then go hit speed bumps at speed and you will see how well the V 12 works without any suspension. Also I run my tire pressure a little bit under 20 psi. I am 165 pounds. Originally I was running at 30 psi and that is way too firm and I got more wobbles.

You r right in most points all the way, Chooch.Just dont forget the wheel wants to do its things. Only for the rider is to prevent it is not to go off the head. (feet) Then its good. Just let the wheel do it shit, just prevent it go off limits, thats your legs for, and all gear. Over do it, experience the concequencies. Simply put just like that that is that. Ez go, ez down. Cheers dude. :)

Thanks for the tip. Especially the subtle weight shift (carving not always desirable). The analogy with snowboard though doesn't make sense. The mechanics is different. Flat boats with two distinct edges vs rotating wheel with subtle point of contact. I don't know the mechanics explanation of the wobble but if I find out I might come back to update this comment.

What do you run your tire pressure on the V12HT? How do you know if wheel is out of balance?, Seen your crash on last video glad your ok

try lower psi on the v12 ht, I ride mine at about 27 but it does affect range. Also when you put the slime in you need to ride it right after or the slime will all clump and dry in one spot and make it wobble. My EXN did that before I put the shinko 244 tire on it. And thank ya about the crash!

This is a fantastic and extremely durable ru-vid.comUgkx4e2fa6x27dF7shCelntq0ZIKt4N0jELI unicycle. This was my first unicycle and I have really thrashed this thing for the past eight months or so and it has stood up very well. The only thing that has broken are the plastic pedals, they take a beating as you learn to ride, but an upgrade to metal pedals is fairly inexpensive and pretty necessary for most any unicycle. I have since acquired a 36 inch Coker for commuting and having ridden that I realized that the saddle on this unicycle can be a bit uncomfortable after a few hours riding, but still it is a great unicycle to start out on.
