#skateboarding #nollie #tricktips We're going over the nollie today. I explain what makes nollies harder than ollies and filmed quite a few nollies filmed with different angles. Thanks for tuning in.
@@caillouplat5307 I used to push mongo but now I can push with both feet just as well as each other. And I don't think I'm riding wrong, I can't switch flip for the life of me
God I wish I'd learned switch right away! For whatever reason I procrastinated,.. thought it was too above my skill. Waited my whole skateboarding career in my youth. I'm back at it now, and I'm prioritizing learning switch. 42 years old this summer and I'm landing 2 out of 5 switch flip. They're looking better than my regular kickflip 👍🏽
One thing that really helped me when learning nollies is to jump diagonnaly in the opposite direction that you re rolling to Btw gr8 vid when it comes to skate content i always watch your channel since you provide us with really nice info whether it is about being vegan or getting better at skateboarding I would really appreciate some more videos like the "shit hipster skaters say" but that weekly content is just on point
I always sucked at nollies, but now they feel just fine. My breakthrough was learning them on a snowboard. One season about 10 years ago or so i decided to try them on snow and found that after a few sessions i was able to effectively translate it back to skating, i just stepped on my board and they were no big deal. I'd suggest if you've got a snowboard, strap it on and practice on carpet popping nollies and get a feel for loading up the nose of the board and popping. For me it made skate nollies a lot easier and i was finally able to actually nollie up and over stuff, into grinds, slides, and manuals, and even nollie heelfips were no big deal on a skateboard after practicing/parkriding on snow.
Skate Hacks love the channel bro! And the whole time I been nollies wrong. I thought if I was rolling fakie and pop off my front foot ,regular footed. That six but thank you
Man, I'm 40 now and quit skateboarding already, but by watching this video i can feel this nollie on my feet . It felt so great i wish i could do it anymore 😰
I've been trying to figure out whether to put my front door on the tip or keep it in the pocket. This helped a lot thanks. Also I think I nudge the nose forward a little to get that extra opposing movement against my sliding foot.
Someone told me once that to do a trick in switch you have to just try and mirror the way you do the trick normally. which sounds really simple but t does work. sort of focus doing the trick normally and just try it switch. it helped me with some tricks for sure.
@@slimetime7488 I feel it's different for md. But the trick is the same trick so it's just getting your body to understand that. But yeah exactly the same
Watched the Braille video on nollies and couldn't even pop my board. The second I saw your downward camera angle with your front ankle rolling I landed it first try. I'm only coming to this channel for trick tips from now on. Braille is extremely overrated for trick tips imo
Braille is hype eater. They just build a skatepark for sure... but... Bad at teaching. - hey do this! - yaaaaay! - now you! - wooooooow! Mr.Beast in skating.
Also if you get fakie ollies down it means you can switch nollie, if you can switch nollie you now have the mechanics for nollies as a reference. It won’t help you in anyway do a nollie in your usual stance but at least now you can see how nollies work on your own feet. Edit. Steezy nollies btw and great tutorial , subbed.
I can nollie shove it but I’m trying hard still to improve my nollies. When I pop my nollie my front wheels get in the air sometimes but not that high. I can do a switch pop shove it too. For some reason I feel nollie shove it’s are a bit easier than regular pop shove it but I can do a regular pop shove it too. A nollie to smith or nollie to 5-0 seem like fun tricks to try once I get my nollies more solid.
Hey man I love your videos please keep it up these are someof the best trick tips on RU-vid! I have a question for you... I'm a vegan skater and am having the hardest time finding Vegan shoes, I like a somewhat bulky shoe and have found the Etnies Jameson to be the closest thing to sturdy shoe, what are you riding here? and do you have any other recomendations? cheers
Thanks man. Tough to find vegan suede material, all other materials are crap (canvas, nubuck, rubber etc.) suede is best and they hardly make it vegan. Your best bet is just to buy canvas and add shoe goo, or get suede shoes from a second hand source so you don’t contribute to demand for suede.
Dudes I have a problem, (I have high Ollies do tre Flips and gap with kickflips) when I nollie, my board does a Nollie backside 70-90 and I lose balance. Any tips to correct this flaw
I don’t know why but somehow my nollies just suck. I can easily ollie over 1feet and more. But nollie just seems wrong, I did spent a lot of time trying to improve my nollies but my legs just won’t do what’s needed.
When I couldn't get nollies I tried to crib from my fakie ollies: the thing that did it was that pocket, just like you found. It's good to steal from yourself peeps 👌
Hey so I ride goofy so should I have the foot that pops be my right foot or left foot? It would be more comfortable for me to have the foot that pops be the left foot but then I would be riding switch when I land. Any help would be appreaciated!
Nollie stance is always popped with your non dominant foot. That’s what makes it nollie. If you’re goofy, a nollie will always be popped off the nose of your board with your right foot. The left foot for you would be a fakie Ollie.
@@XavielRU-vid Where's your toe at when you do the slide of front foot though? I'm asking because my regular kick flip could do with faster flip at this point.
A good way to get to know doubleflips at first, is to flip them not so much from the corner of the nose like a kickflip, but more downwards, towards the ground (maybe near where the bolts end?). Also give the board just a bit more time to go vertical before the flick, so it doesn't slam the ground. It also helps to really let the ankle bend before the flick. Once you get the feel of it, you can kickflipify them more and get some height and steeze, but it's a good staing point. When you get the feel of it, it becomes as easy as a kickflip, if not even more.
easy... keep your back foot at the bottom pocket and the front foot point straight up to the nose of the board, pop it hard and jump higher while at it flick straight forward as hard as enough to double flip it. when ya see the grip stomp it.
@@PHeMoX sorry for the late reply, but my toe slides directly on the tip of the nose. Maybe you post a video showing your double flips. Double flips for me are easier stationary
A couple questions rq: what size board do u skate? What typa shoes are those? What size wheels and trucks? And your channel really good, u might get this alot but your actually helpin alot of us out thanks heaps man.
Nollie is my style. I can do more nollie tricks than I can regular stance. I really like nollie backside 180's. Also I can right with my non dominant hand lol!
@@xAmbiience Only been skating for a yr & few months, I havent given fakie enough practice time so I suck at it lol. I need to learn it more bc I'm doing 180's alot more now & end up fakie.
Playing drums for a living and applying learning how to ride switch and playing drums left handed (open handed which the correct way to play drums) is oddly hilariously the same. I straight up. Brushed my teeth left handed, did everything left handed until it was some what up to par(insert stupid sex joke) same thing. Just do left leg work outs. Even as little as THINKING about starting off the day walking with your left foot.
