Your climb from the ground forces you to move the rope up the tree until you are standing at the top of the stick. I understand this is for safety from the ground up. I climb from the ground to the top of the stick using an amsteel daisy chain as a lineman’s. Once I’m at the top of my stick I tie a running bowline knot then put away my daisy chain lineman’s. I am not a knot expert but I can tie a running bowline in the dark faster than a quick link. I’ve done both. I’ve used the running bowline for 2 seasons. It drops perfectly when I’m on the ground recovering my repel line.
I pretty much use the same equipment you do. I added a Nite Ize large orange wrap for use at top of stick. It's easier to see and get a hold of especially when wet so it won't slip when wet. Ask me how I know
Dumb question. I use sticks but want to one stick next season. When you position the stick under the tether are you concerned that the rope rubs against the top of the platform? As in it will fray your tether? Just thinking things out loud and making a list of what to do. Nice video!
Man those ropes have a technora sheath that is TOUGH. They're made to rub against sharp rocks for mountain climbing. They're even hard to cut with a knife
