When I lose my keys like an idiot, I've learned to drill out the keyhole of a padlock to spring it open. Of course I then need a new padlock, but that's better than being stuck outside.
And my way is faster than whatever it is he's doing. In fact, I think mixing up thermite would be faster than what he's doing. I mean seriously, what an insanely overcomplicated way to spring a lock. And you can only do it if you can hold it upside down and move it around, not always the case. I'd have to say, this really isn't useful in terms of opening locks you lost the keys to.
if you are able to use a power tool like a drill then why not do it even simpler and faster using an angle grinder with a cut off wheel attached? heck they might even make them battery operated too that's much easier than drilling and i dont think i ever seen any of these open by drilling the keyhole

I saw the same thing. The idea is that the explosion in the lock throws the pins outward giving time for the pick to slip into position. What happens in the video is the match actually burned the rubber band off, so when the explosion happens there was no tension on the pick for it to set into the keyway. EPIC FAIL.
be nice if you actually explained how this works, i understand part of this is like a lock pick tool with the flattened metal rod but how does the heat by the burning match powder inside work on put the pins inside at the correct position to open? or is it something else going on?
So, there are 2 main tools used in lock picking...the rake/pick and the tension rod. The rake/pick is used to position the individual pins in the lock tumbler to the point where the lock will open, and the tension rod is used to keep pressure on the tumbler pins to prevent them from springing back into the lock position after you rake them, and of course also to open the lock when you have all the tumbler pins in the unlock position. I think what is happening here is he is packing match heads into the tumbler, which will compress the pins to the "unlock" position but also BEYOND the unlock position (which obviously the lock won't unlock when the pins aren't in exactly the right position), and keeping tension on it with his "automatic rubber-band-powered tension rod", when the match heads burn out, the tumbler pins will begin springing back into their normal fully extended "locked" position, when they will all pass at some point the "unlock" position in their travel. Thus, when all the tumbler springs hit the "unlock position" (we're talking milliseconds here, if not nanoseconds) it will spring open. At least, that's my understanding. And since I know just a bit about picking locks, chemistry, and engineering, I'm probably pretty close.

OK... interessante Bastelei... aber mal ehlich: Wenn ich ein Vorhängeschloss (Gartentürchen, Kellerraum etc.) auf die Schnelle öffnen will, weil ich den Schlüssel nicht mehr finde, ist eine Doktorarbeit mit intensiver Materialvorbereitung samt Werkzeug das letzte, worauf ich Lust habe. Da gibt es zeitsparendere, alltagstauglichere Lösungen :) Grüße

I call bullshit because if you look at the locking mechanism and the body of the lock at the edge, you see there is absolutely no movement of the locking mechanism. It stays perfectly still. Then the edit happens and the locking mech is spun.
@@christianhilleke2548 there is another one where he cuts out a piece of aluminum or somethin, he wraps it around the rod at the base and wiggles it and the lock opens. The lock is secured on the vice so you cant see the bottom of it. At first, I thought he wedged the flaps of the aluminum between the crevice of the rod and base but a recent video shows him just wrapping it around and wiggling it. And its on the opposite side of the actual rod that unlocks. I feel he takes advantage of the viewer not able to see the bottom of the lock while in the vice and he uses the key. So its more of a shitty magic trick than lock picking.
