Basically I got a PS2 Slim recently second hand. Yet it had a bit of an issue, a minor issue, but an issue nonetheless. The power/reset button was jammed, and it took a bit of effort just to turn it on. I simply disassembled the outer shell, and discovered that the button had accumulated a sizable amount of dirt. I removed the button, and cleaned the hole and the button mechanism. After reassembling the console, it now works like a charm. Surprising what a little work can do!

I laughed when I pulled the sticker off and it said "VOID VOID VOID VOID VOID VOID" I like how you said more interesting hobbies of yours.

The reason is that Computers are designed to be serviceable. Consoles are not designed to be opened by the end user. If you decide to do it, you do it at your own risk.

Why do you always void your guarantee when wanting to open up a console? I open up my PC and dust inside it every 4 months or so (it is a old one however with poor air flow) so why am i not allowed to open up my console to dust and let it preform better?

I dont get how you took the bottom part out? i unscrewed it but its still not coming out i think the controller ports are blocking it?

on the motor part at 1:42 i seem to be missing the screw in the bottom right? could this be why the motor is not working?

I can’t take the bottom cover off, the memory card slot is in the way and I don’t wanna mess it up trying.

@nitrox85 look at the sides of your ps there is brakes for them just stich a paper on the hole next to it. it must now spin correctly

God it was so hard taking off the top cover on mine. A latch on the right side was very stubborn.

Mine is different, under the motor (where the disk spins) is a BIOS battery... Near the IR receiver and power button...

thanks, a fuse is out on my slim, the green light comes on for a seconf them back to red, i guess i need to test the fuses to see which ones are out

They don't want to trying to repair it and then when you break it in the process turn it in to them.

Should have been more specific on which rubber covers to remove. 2 of them dont have screws underneath that and i tour one of thinking there was a screw underneath it. So thanks for that👍🏻

I found out that by removing the 7 screws, the shell of the PS2 can be removed. Yay!
