Hallelujah!!! Thank you for showing how to convert the SVG icons to viewable pics. That has been one of my biggest pet peeves...not being able to view those before opening. GAME CHANGER!!!
@@lauriemeyer5058 I had the same problem. Apparently there's more than one extension, and now that site doesn't even show up in the google search--at least not for me. I had to type in the exact web address looking at the paused video to find it. Installing now. Hope it works!
I don't know where to start.. YOU completely changed my life today. I have been crafting with SVGs for years and repeatedly loose them somewhere on my computer. I followed you instructions and now have a file system that will allow me to find all of them! I only wish I would have watched this thousands of SVGS ago. It is going to take some time to find and file them all but I have already started and am thrilled. Thank you again!!!! For new crafters, PLEASE FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS! they are a game changer...........
Awwww, Susan, I'm so happy to hear you say that and tickled pink that you have put a system in place so quickly! I think crafters are unorganized by nature, LOL, so we tend to just fly by the seat of our pants with these things. I'm happy to have helped out! ---Becky
Excellent video. I specifically searched for your video on this topic because I’m starting to download a ton of stuff. Also, I have used carbonite for years to back up my files and I agree that it’s important to use something. Thx for all you do.
Received a Cricut Maker 3 for Christmas . Heard about Design Bundles on You Tube. Started with your $ event. I was having a hard time downloading & saving files. After trying to get help from support on you website, I searched You Tube & found this video. This was a game charger! Thanks, Becky. I subscribed & WILL STAYED TUNED.
OMG!!!! Thank you for sharing this! I'm an Ofc Mgr and am all about organizing and previewing everything in files/emails on my PC. I use W10 at work & home and was getting frustrated having to open each SVG file to see the image (shown as an Edge file). I SOOOO LOVE YOU RIGHT NOW!!💖 The extension works PERFECTLY!!! My Hero!! 🤗
I just purchased a bunch of bundles from Design Bundles. My files were a HOT MESS! My laptop was running so slow from all the files I had that I didn’t or couldn’t use so I deleted all those and got all of my files that were good and created files on a 1T external hard drive. I did just what you did and renamed then and made them easier to find. It is a huge endeavor but it is so much better and easier to find and I cleared out space on my hard drive.
If you ever have an issue with files from Design Bundles please reach out to customer support at mail@designbundles.net and they will be happy to help! - Brittany
Holy hell !! The SVG extension is amazing, it was exactly what i was looking for, i literally looked everywhere and couldnt find something like that. Thank you very much, super helpful!
Wow Becky. Thank you so much for this video tutorial. So much valuable information. So cool of you to share. I’m a newbie to Cricut and will definitely take your advice on starting out organized.
OMGosh! I have been looking for months on how to organize my svg files. EVERYTHING seemed so comlicated, I am not computer savvy. So now with my Ipad in front of me watching this video again, I can stop, pause and try to organize these. Fingers crossed, I can do it.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I am new to Cameo crafting and went wild with all the promo downloads then I couldn't find anything!!! And the problem with separating commercial from personal use was huge! I already started to sort thing out when I came across your video and it has helped immensely--ESPECIALLY the chrome SVG extension. You wouldn't believe the gyrations I was doing trying to get things viewable without having to open 10 folders and then putting multiple instances of viewable files just to see what I had. That kind of thing can dampen the creative juices in anyone. THANK YOU!
Hey, Becky I just found an amazing program that lets you compile and print out a font catalogue of installed (or not installed) fonts without having to print each font individually wasting tons of ink and paper! It's called Print my fonts by Stefan Trost Media! I'm stoked! Message me if you want the website!
Becky, You are so Knowledgeable ! I am not a beginner in the computer world, but new to Silhouette... I already have organized my files but, gee, did you give me extra tips to add to my personal tool box ! Thanks !
Seeing SVG's BEFORE opening them WOW! WOW! a game changer for me. Thank you so much. I have my files sorted under designer or where I bought them. Sort into subject? not sure I could do that, I usually just "search!". However I can't tell you the difference seeing my svg's will make to me and I'm not even a professional! A professional should kiss your feet LOL.
LOL, no feet kissing required but I definitely appreciate your kind words! I'm so glad that we were able to share some tips with you to make organizing easier! ---Becky
That is so awesome Sandy and we are happy you joined us in the Cricut family! We love helping you along your crafting journey and are honored that you chose us! ---Becky
Thank you for your organization tips. They are helpful. Also, it is sooo important to back up files and I am going to check out the resource you use. Thank you for being straightforward and providing excellent information.
Thank you so much! The svg extension was so helpful! I followed your instructions exactly and saw the same results. ♥ Now to update to Windows 10 for Adobe Bridge.
Don't worry Judy, I feel your paint completely. It will be a long journey for us. What I'm doing is setting a weekly goal to sort through 50 files and organize them. Whether I do that all at once or over a few days, I think it's a reasonable goal. Hope this helps, don't be discouraged!! ---Becky
Thanks Becky your are a godsend for me a complete beginner I just purchase my first files so this video is what I needed thank you very much for your help.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. Been looking for a way to preview SVG. You gave me that solution and i greatly appreciate it. Keep making these videos please.
Thanks John! I will keep putting out videos just for you (wink wink)! I'm so glad to help, and I appreciate you taking the time to check them out! ---Becky
I thought my organization of files was good but you took it a little further for me. Thank you. Being able to preview the SVG in the file is something I have wanted to do but didn’t know how (as well as with my embroidery files). So excited to try but afraid I might mess up my files. Thank you for the video. If I have trouble, I may be reaching out to you. 😊
Mic, you can reach out to me anytime! I'm so glad that we're able to help you stay organized! And yes, that SVG preview is a game changer! If you are worried about changing anything with your files, I would do a full-system backup first! Good luck! ---Becky
I’m definitely going to check into using iDrive! I learned the hard way not to keep all of my eggs in one basket several months ago when I accidentally deleted everything from my external hard drive. It had many years worth of EVERYTHING saved on it. I was able to recover the files, but the thousands of files were all renamed and totally unorganized. It will take me forever to sort out which ones are actually my files and which ones are just device files from old computer & cell phone backups. 🤦🏼♀️ I have a new external hard drive that I’ve been using, but I never want to get myself in this kind of mess again.
You can do it Heather-Marie! Just think, if you start now, you will save yourself even more years of headaches! I know, easier said than done, but still, we need to do this for our sanity. Thanks for watching! ---Becky
As a computer friendly person, I ultimately figured this out. But you did give me some extra ideas. You really need to promote this on cricut newbies page, as this is a constantly being asked. I will be sharing this link myself.
Hello Becky! Thanks again for yet another great tutorial! I have SERIOUSLY collected what is literally millions of svg files and digi paper files! I have been trying to sort them out - but it is SO UNBELIEVABLY TEDIOUS AND CONFUSING! I really don't think the laptop can handle any more! Plus my Silhouette Studio is TENDING TO FLICKER A LOT! (unstable even)! I just have SO MANY FILES!! OH BOY!!! i JUST HAVE A DIFFICULT TIME TRYING TO MAKE UP MY MIND!! lol
Hey Michele! I completely feel your pain! It sounds like you need an external hard drive, that's what I ended up switching to to free up space on my computer. If sorting them is to overwhelming for now, you can create a "dump" fonder and sort through them a little at a time. Good luck! ---Becky
@@DesignBundles what external hard drive do you use? I’ve been looking in to them for all of the photos I have , but also for the many bundles I have gathered over the years
I had my files similar to the way that you sorted them, but I am trying to do them better, one question I have is, I downloaded the extension that you recommended so that I could view my SVG files, is there a reason to keep the png files and other files that come with the SVG's when I download them, or could I just delete them and keep the SVG file and maybe the commercial use document?
Thanks for the video, I have a few questions.. Do I need to unzip and extract the downlowed file before I move it to the document folder? When I purchase a bundle How do I seperate the bundles to organize them easier?
Hey Paula! Yes, you do need to unzip the files after downloading, that way they will be ready to use on demand. When you download a bundle, each product should have an individual folder. You can sort those folders (or the file types you will use like SVG) into the folders you create for organization. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Design Bundles should you also have a folder just for your zip files? Usually there are multiple file types in these folders. What do we do with the extra files other than the SVG files?
I know it's 's been a long time, but since creating folders to organise svg is still relevant and the svg lack of preview in the file explorer in Windows is still a problem, I wanted to mention a different option to get the svg previews. On windows, you can install "Microsoft Power Toys" from the Microsoft Store. I pretty much ignored most of the "toys", I just toggled on the svg preview part in the "file explorer extension" (or something like that... sorry, my system isn't in English)
Hey Donna! You can save as many file types as you need. If you are downloading cut files, you can choose one and remove the others. If you have the basic edition of Silhouette Studio, you need the DXF files, but if you have upgraded you will save the SVG files. You only need the PNG files if you need them as printables. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Thank you for all this. I’m just wondering if you think it’s okay to Delete my zipped files? They’ve already had the files extracted ..I still have them cause I’m scared to get rid of them…but would be nice to declutter .
Hi Becky, was wondering if you could show a video on designing heat transfer vinyl vs designing sublimation designs? Which is better? Thank you for sharing your awesome knowledge! Also what kind of Laptop/ PC do you use?
i Becky i seem to think i loose designs i bought,i don't know where they are, also not that good with my computer, dawwwumm, but i willing to learn, hoping to learn..
Hey Ana! You should have a downloads folder that catches all the files you download. I would suggest checking there and seeing if you can locate them. Any designs you purchase from Design Bundles will be saved to your account if you need to redownload them. Hope this helps! ---Becky
I use DropBox to store all my stuff and it’s synced to my PC. I’m trying to reorganize ALL my stuff.... just so it doesn’t bog my PC down. I need to do the commercial & personal folder
I would keep the file types that you typically use. If you only cut with vinyl then the SVG is fine to keep. If you only do print then cut projects then the PNG is fine to keep. If you delete something you need, you can always go back to your Design Bundles account to download the files again 😊
Great video - great instruction! Would you know if there is a way to view the svg's when using microsoft edge as your browser? I don't have chrome on my computer, but can certainly add it if I need to. I currently have my svg's set to open in Silhouette Studio.
Thanks for the tips this was helpful. I'm wondering after you move your SVG file where you want it do you delete the leftovers of the folder that you unzipped that's sitting in your downloads?
I would, Katie, that way you aren't using up unnecessary storage space You can always re-download from Design Bundles if you need the original for any reason. Hope this helps! ---Becky
I have gone thru the process with you to use google chrome to open my svg. I added the extension but I still get no preview. I’m just getting the Chrome icon. Do you know what I’m doing wrong?
Hi Tina! Our apologies for the delay in response and we hope you've found the answer but if you are still having any troubles, please feel free to write in to mail@designbundles.net or join us in a live chat so we can help with your next project! - Dawn 🙂
Correct, the files you purchase from Design Bundles are covered under their Premium License, so be sure to give it a browse for all the ins-and-outs. Thanks for watching! ---Becky
I know this thread is 2 years old.. But very important!!! After I create individual folders in Documents and move files to svg, fonts, etc.. folders what about the the zipped files in downloads do I just delete it? I found once I extract the zipped file. it's still a zipped file in downloads. First I was creating folders in downloads🤔totally confusing everything and made a complete mess. I'm thinking i have doubles, and my storage is about full. What Should be Deleted? if anything? I hope I'm making sense.. Thank you s
Hi Marsha! You can remove the zip folder if you have removed the files you need! We are always here to help. We also have a live chat you can access right through our homepage: www.designbundles.net if you ever have any questions!
Hey Joan! Saving to your Silhouette Library is fine, it's just a little more limiting than saving to your desktop, in my opinion. If you purchase a lot of files from the Silhouette Design Store, then the library might be best for you. But if you buy and use SVG files, then I would recommend setting up a folder like this for your non-Silhouette designs. Hope this helps, I'm happy to answer any questions you have! ---Becky
Thank you Martha, I sure did! I have a video on how to do it, too! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OGDhx9fpP88.html Thanks for watching! ---Becky
