That was sooo helpful! I've been trying to figure out how to organize all my svg files and now I feel like I can do this because you broke it down and explained things so that I can understand them, I'm not great with technology. Thank you!!
Very helpful, I would love to learn on how to organize my fonts as it is soooo overwhelming because I just download the entire file but do not have the time to download each font.
I’ve been doing this for a while now, but I take it one step further by filing it in topics, eg. a folder called Holidays, and inside that folder, I have several folders - Christmas, Easter, Valentines Day, etc. then I identify each file with name of file, two letters identifying company (eg DT), then identify whether it has commercial license or personal only, and type of file - svg, png, etc. full example I have the King of the Castle Card in a Card folder, in a sub folder called Birthdays, and it’s named King-of-the-Castle_DT_P_svg
I download to my desktop by default. That way I don’t have to remember to tidy up my downloads folder. When I’ve accumulated a few downloads on my desktop I know it’s time to file them into folders. ☺️
Thank you so much. I always learn so much with everything you do. As I scrolled down, I also saw that you answered a question someone else had! I didn't know that once you unzip a file, you can delete the zip file! I had sooooo many zip files. Now I can delete them because they have been downloaded!
I have been organizing my files for years under a “crafts” folder broken down further by svg company then I put each svg file in their own folder by svg title. I also backup to iCloud. I like to keep my download folder clean-ocd in me 😝
I always keep mine by the SVG sites name, i.e. Dreaming Tree. I keep them on my hard drive and always have them backed up to my cloud storage account. I also have an external hard drive that I will back up everything occasionally.
Great starter video. Now it would be nice if you went further and explained how to organize after unzipping. Keep the zipped file or delete it? Organize by type of file or??? 😃
@@3dsvg : Actually I do know that - I’ve been working on computers since the first PCs came out. But as a former trainer myself I can see that as the next question that should maybe be addressed. 🙃
Question? I download a SVG file/folder and then unzip that file. Doesn't the original zipped folder stay where it is downloaded? And if so, do you go in and delete the zipped folder since you have the unzipped files saved?
Thank you, Leo.. Could you do a tutorial of changing the the folder 'picture' ...... It is so handy to see an image that indicates the contents. I have ny way ..... just a suggestion
Love it Leo, but need help . How can I put the photo of the project with the download? When I shop, I’m told if I have that project or not. I need away to see what the download is. Am I making any sense? I can look at my orders but in order to see, because I can’t remember, I have to waste time by opening it. Have pity on an old lady ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hi, When I go to my Downloads in my DT account, I can never remember if I've downloaded or not. Can you change the colour of the 'download' button to a different colour once a file is downloaded? It will help me out immensely. I love DT projects, thanks
Something to consider: Two years ago, my main folder for all things crafty (among others) was corrupted due to a faulty system update. It took me about 3 months to redownload all my paid files and some of the non-Dreaming Tree free files. It was suggested by a tech friend that I keep my craft and other important files on an external hard drive (cheap nowadays, $80 for 4TB drive) and disconnect it when updating Windows. One of the best investments I’ve ever made. This way, should my PC’s hard drive ever crash again, my most important files are safe.
Totally agree, redundancy when it comes to your data is very important. In a perfect world not only would you have a things on a hard drive that is external, but also on a second hard drive or on a cloud drive. Data can be very volatile unfortunately. It seems like there’s never a perfect solution.
Love your files and all the help you provide. I already do as you suggested, but I am not able to open upload the files into Cricut if I don't open the files from the download folder. I'm sure you have another video for that and I will look for it.
Is there any way to sort your Downloadable Files by date purchased? It used to be that way but now it’s alphabetical. Having both sorting would be fabulous!!
