Painting a watercolor wreath is pretty simple! This simple time-lapse video gives you an idea of how quick and easy the process can be.
You will need:
1. A small bowl
3. A drawing pencil
2. A paint brush - I used a Simply Simmons round size 10)
3. Watercolor paints - I used Winsor & Newton and Artist's Loft palettes.
4. Watercolor paper - I use Arches hot or cold pressed paper.
Directions:
1. Place the bowl upside down on the paper and trace around it with a light drawing pencil. Once you paint over pencil it's hard to remove, so keep the line very light.
2. Using your favorite earthy tones, add vines, leaves, and greenery along the path you made with the pencil, being sure to leave a few gaps for where you want the flowers to go. TIP: add a bit of red pigment to your greens to make it look more natural.
3. Once the greenery has dried a bit, start layering in small flowers in the gaps. Be creative! I like to alternate sides when I paint the flowers so I can get a feel for the "weight" of the wreath. You don't want too many on one side and for it to feel "heavy".
4. Allow to dry.
5. You can write a name or greeting in the center and use as a card or art print!
